Consider joining the Duke Energy team, where you’ll find a friendly work environment, opportunities for growth and development, recognition for your work, and competitive pay and benefits.Job DescriptionThe Associate Dispatcher is a training position for becoming a Distribution Dispatcher in the Duke Energy Florida’s Distribution Control Center.The job responsibility of the Associate Distribution Dispatcher is to complete The Dispatcher Qualification Program which typically takes between six to eighteen months. The goal of the program is to develop proficiency in all Distribution Dispatcher functions through the use of various training methods including the classroom, on-the-job training, and field experience.The Distribution Dispatcher functions include operating the electrical distribution system in a safe and reliable manner; monitoring multiple computer applications for system alarms and outages; coordinating and directing switching activities for normal maintenance and power restoration; forming contingency plans to mitigate consequences and implementing contingency plans should an event occur; and dispatching service level work orders to field resources.The position requires a two part pre-employment testing:– System Operator Power Dispatch test (SO/PD)Progression through the hiring process will be contingent upon the SOPD test recommendation, and a formal interview.Basic/Required QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent and must meet one of the following criteria:Journeyman linemanJourneyman electrician-substationSystem Protection & Control Technician (Relay Tech)5 years of distribution related experience3 years distribution related experience and Associate’s Degree in related field1 years distribution related experience and Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical EngineeringDesired QualificationsAbility to comprehend one- line and three-line diagramsExperience with SCADA and OMS applicationsMust be able to work in a high paced, rapidly changing environmentSpecific RequirementsAvailable to work days, nights, weekends and holidays; rotating shiftsTravel Requirements 5-15%Relocation Assistance Provided (as applicable) NoRepresented/Union Position Main IBEW Florida UnionVisa Sponsored Position NoPosting Expiration Date Friday, May 30, 2025All job postings expire at 12:01 AM on the posting expiration date.Please note that in order to be considered for this position, you must possess all of the basic/required qualifications.
