La Department of English and Comparative Literature de San José State University (SJSU) recherche des candidats qualifiés pour une réserve d’instructeurs potentiels. Cette initiative vise principalement à recruter des enseignants expérimentés pour dispenser des cours dans le programme de First-Year Writing. Principales responsabilités :
Les candidats sélectionnés auront pour responsabilité de :
- Enseigner une ou plusieurs sections de composition de première année ou de communication professionnelle/technique.
- Participer à au moins un atelier de développement professionnel par semestre.
- Contribuer à l’évaluation du programme et à des recherches programmatiques en cours.
- Adapter leurs méthodes d’enseignement pour répondre à une population étudiante diversifiée en tenant compte des différences d’âge, d’aptitudes, de culture, d’ethnicité, de religion, de statut économique et d’identité de genre.
- Organiser leurs cours sur le système de gestion de l’apprentissage Canvas LMS.
- Respecter les horaires et modalités de cours (in-person, asynchrone, synchrone, hybride, etc.) tout au long du semestre.
Qualifications requises :
Les candidats doivent posséder :
- Un diplôme de MA, MFA, ou PhD en Composition et Rhétorique, Communication Professionnelle/Technique, Littérature, ou un domaine connexe.
- Une expérience d’au moins quatre ans dans l’enseignement de l’écriture et de la lecture à un public multilingue/multiculturel.
- Un engagement démontré envers l’excellence en enseignement, illustré par une participation à des ateliers de développement professionnel, des publications académiques, etc.
- Une formation ou une expérience en travail avec des écrivains de base et des écrivains de seconde langue est fortement souhaitable.
- Une sensibilisation aux objectifs éducatifs d’une population multiculturelle.
Rémunération :
La fourchette salariale est déterminée en fonction des qualifications et de l’expérience :
- L-A / Plage 2 : $5507 – $5959
- L-B / Plage 3 : $6221 – $7481
- L-C / Plage 4 : $6825 – $9431
- L-D / Plage 5 : $8593 – $10347
Les taux indiqués sont basés sur une rémunération mensuelle pour les enseignants à temps plein. Pour les postes à temps partiel, ces taux seront ajustés proportionnellement.

📝 Description du poste : Department SummaryThe Department of English and Comparative Literature at San José State University is seeking candidates for a pool of qualified, prospective instructors. We are most interested in hiring experienced instructors to teach courses in the First-Year Writing Program. Occasionally, we also have need of expertise in English Education, including student teacher supervision, or in Professional and Technical Writing, including in the areas of business writing, social media, and other areas of career writing. The number and variety of positions hired from this pool will vary from semester to semester, contingent upon student enrollment figures and funding
Brief Description of DutiesTeach one or more sections of first-year composition (or professional/technical communication, teacher supervision, etc.).
(First-year writing instructors will) participate in a minimum of one department professional development workshop per semester.
Participate in program assessment every semester and ongoing programmatic research as appropriate.
Demonstrate awareness of and experience in teaching a student population of great diversity – in age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, language background, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic preparation – using inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement.
Organize classes within theCanvas Learning Management System (LMS)and utilize the required syllabus template.
Meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester or term, in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes (i.e., in-person, asynchronous, synchronous, bichronous, or hybrid).Required QualificationsMA, MFA, or PhD in Composition and Rhetoric, Professional/Technical Communication, Literature, Creative Writing, or related field (Credential, MAT, or Education PhD for Teacher supervisors)
Minimum of four (4) years’ experience teaching college-level writing and reading to a multicultural/multilingual student population preferred.
Strong commitment to and evidence of excellence in teaching (e.g., professional development workshops, academic conferences, scholarly publications, teaching evaluations).
Training in or demonstrated experience working with basic writers and/or second-language writers is highly desirable.
Awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching and other comparable experience.CompensationCompensation and salary range placement are determined by qualifications and experience. Range salaries above are the anticipated monthly salary rate of full-time AY faculty–part-time rates are prorated. There are 6 monthly payments per semester (full-time AY annual salary = rate x 12). See the Faculty Salary Schedule for more information.

Conditional OfferThe work for this faculty position is located in the State of California and requires commuting to the campus.
