However, it also addresses other Student Performance Criteria, as defined by the CACB (A4 A5 A6 A7 A8 B5 C2 C3 C4 C5 D1).Topic and themes: Design a multi-unit residential building with a focus on circular economy and life cycle thinking in design. This is a comprehensive design (D1) studio hence, the student must demonstrate an ability to produce an architectural design (A7-A8) based on a concept, a building program (A4), and an urban site (A4, A6) which broadly integrates contextual factors, structural (C3) and environmental systems (B5, C2, C5), building envelopes and assemblies (A7- A8, C4), regulatory requirements (A8, C5), and environmental stewardship (C2, C5). Evaluable assessments of the studio work and the SPCs will take place via a mid-term and final review with invited critics.Coordination: Please note that to better coordinate and manage student workload, instructors will be expected to work closely with colleagues and administration ahead of the semester to confirm scope, schedule, and assignments. Deadlines and tests will be finalized with the larger team and following conversations regarding resources and technical support.Studio coordinator: Prof. Naomi Keena.Please note: This studio will be team taught which means that multiple instructors will be assigned to teach this course. Instructors will work with multiple different groups of students throughout the term. L’étudiant doit donc démontrer sa capacité à produire une conception architecturale (A7-A8) basée sur un concept, un programme de construction (A4) et un site urbain (A4, A6) intégrant largement les facteurs contextuels, les systèmes structurels (C3) et environnementaux (B5, C2, C5), les enveloppes et assemblages de bâtiments (A7-A8, C4), les exigences réglementaires (A8, C5) et la gestion environnementale (C2, C5). Des évaluations évaluatives du travail en atelier et des CPS seront réalisées lors d’une évaluation à mi-parcours et d’une évaluation finale avec des critiques invités.Coordination : Veuillez noter que pour mieux coordonner et gérer la charge de travail des étudiants, les enseignants devront collaborer étroitement avec leurs collègues et l’administration avant le début du semestre afin de confirmer le périmètre, le calendrier et les devoirs. Appropriate technical, digital and/or critical, theoretical expertise required for the course; active in the profession. Professional practice and/or post-secondary teaching experience in architecture. M.Arch. or equivalent (first professional degree). Appointment is from August 25 to December 31, 2025.
