In the Genomic Medicine research group, we seek a highly ambitious and internationally recognized early-career researcher with a strong track record of scientific excellence to advance methodological innovation in genomics-guided artificial intelligence, aiming to propel precision medicine. The successful candidate is expected to be independent yet collaborative, and to conduct research at an international level developing statistical learning, deep learning, graphical models, and/or Bayesian methodologies for resolving disease heterogeneity, identifying gene-gene networks, or improving integrative genomic prediction models for common complex human diseases, with particular attention to cardiometabolic conditions. The candidate will hold a PhD in statistics, mathematics, bioinformatics, computational biology, or statistical genetics, and should have a strong record of developing methods at the intersection of artificial intelligence and statistical genetics, with an emphasis on integrative analysis of multi-modal biomedical data. Expertise in Bayesian modelling, graphical models, multi-trait approaches, or deep learning applied to genomics is particularly desirable. Experience with applications to complex diseases, especially cardiometabolic traits, is considered a strong asset. The ideal candidate will have an excellent publication record, experience working across interdisciplinary teams, strong communication skills, and a commitment to teaching and supervision. The Genomic Medicine group leverages large-scale genomic data to investigate phenotypic diversity in humans, with a particular focus on cardiometabolic conditions. Our mission is to advance the field of precision medicine by developing innovative statistical genetics methods, implementing state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms, and integrating artificial intelligence to uncover novel biological mechanisms. By bridging methodological innovation with biomedical application, we aim to create robust tools for disease stratification, risk prediction, and the identification of causal pathways in complex multifactorial diseases.Tenure-track assistant professors are offered employment for a six-year period during which they must acquire qualifications at the associate professor level.
