Coupang Global Security (CGS) is seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to join our team and oversee physical security strategy and governance, ensuring the safety and security of our employees, assets, and facilities across the globe. You will oversee and provide executive leadership of supply chain asset protection operations, the physical security design and technology team, and security PMO team. Reporting to the Chief Security Officer, this role demands an individual with a proven track record in physical security design and technology, compliance, asset protection, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to navigate complex security challenges in the Republic of Korea and abroad.In this position, the Sr Director of Global Security Strategy and Governance will have regular engagement with multiple teams and stakeholders to improve speed and efficiency of physical security design, reduce loss and drive supply chain investigations, execute comprehensive security strategies, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the organization.To be successful in this position, the Sr Director of Global Security Strategy and Governance must be eager to learn Coupang’s Security Processes across all regions globally, build strong relationships with key business teams, and develop robust physical security designs and plans.Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive global physical security strategy aligned with the company’s objectives.
  • Lead and manage the Supply Chain Asset Protection Team, Design and Technology team, and Security PMO team, providing direction, mentorship, and development opportunities.
  • Ensure physical security designs and measures for all company facilities, including offices, fulfillment centers, and data centers are robust and implemented timely.
  • Evaluate and integrate advanced security technologies, such as surveillance systems, access control, and alarm systems.
  • Implement and maintain advanced technologies and systems for incident detection, reporting, and response coordination.
  • Develop and execute loss prevention strategies aimed at minimizing theft, fraud, and other losses that impact our supply chain network.
  • Work with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to develop and implement effective loss prevention measures.
  • Analyze loss trends and metrics and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Work closely with heads of legal to ensure thorough and compliant investigation processes.
  • Stay ahead of international security and privacy regulations, ensuring the organization not only meets but exceeds compliance requirements.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators to assess the effectiveness of security initiatives and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (master’s degree preferred) in Business, Security, Government, or related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in military/law enforcement, physical security management, global security, loss prevention, security operations center, and/or corporate security, with at least 10 years in a leadership role, preferably in a global context.
  • Understanding of ASIS, ISO, TAPA, PCI-DSS, and other international standards that guide security operations and relevant certifications in executive protection and security management.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of security protocols, threat management, risk management, and/or crisis management.
  • Effective English and Korean written and oral communication skills with multiple levels of leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to work discreetly and maintain confidentiality in all matters.
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and lead a high-performance team.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities to assess and mitigate potential security risks.
  • Experience in the e-commerce or retail industry is highly desirable.
  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or similar certification is preferred.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing security strategies across diverse geographical regions, specifically APAC.
  • Foster an inclusive and collaborative work environment that values diverse perspectives and cultures.
