This is an exceptional opportunity to become a part of Coupang’s growth in Taiwan and create a world where our customers wonder, “How did I ever live without Coupang?”Role OverviewThe Director of Taiwan Catalog Operations will be a strategic leader responsible for transforming and scaling our catalog management capabilities in Taiwan. This role goes beyond traditional operations management; it requires a forward-thinking leader who can leverage technology, data, and process innovation to build a world-class catalog foundation. You will lead teams focused on the efficient and accurate onboarding of marketplace selection, while simultaneously driving significant improvements in catalog data quality, compliance, and operational speed. A key focus will be on identifying opportunities to integrate automation solutions and explore the application of AI/ML models to enhance processes, eliminate defects, and reduce vendor onboarding SLAsThe ideal candidate is an experienced operations leader with a strong background in e-commerce, data management, or related fields, who possesses a proven track record of driving complex process improvements and implementing technology solutions. S/he must be adept at strategic thinking, problem-solving, and leading teams through change. This role requires someone who can simplify complex challenges, set clear goals, and move with urgency to deliver impactful results. Strong cross-functional collaboration skills are essential to work effectively with internal Product, Engineering, Business, Legal, and external vendor partners to achieve operational excellence and ‘wow’ our customers.What You Will Do
- Define and execute the strategic roadmap for Taiwan Catalog Operations, focusing on efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and technological advancement.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Champion and lead the development and implementation of automation solutions to streamline catalog processes, increase productivity, and reduce manual effort.
- Explore, evaluate, and integrate AI/ML models and other advanced technologies to enhance catalog data quality, classification, enrichment, and defect detection.
- Establish and enforce rigorous standards for catalog data quality and integrity, implementing strategies to proactively identify and eliminate catalog defects at scale.
- Optimize vendor SKU onboarding processes to significantly reduce SLAs while maintaining high data quality and ensuring compliance.
- Ensure all catalog data and onboarding processes comply with relevant product regulations, internal policies, and local legal requirements in Taiwan.
- Lead root cause analysis for complex catalog issues and bottlenecks, developing and implementing sustainable solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Define, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for catalog operations, using data-driven insights to identify areas for improvement and measure success.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Business, Legal, and other cross-functional teams to define requirements, prioritize initiatives, and deliver scalable catalog solutions that meet business needs and regulatory standards.
- Manage resources effectively to support operational needs and strategic initiatives.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of 12+ years of experience in roles related to operations, catalog quality management, SOP establishment and process improvement programs, responsibility for operational processes.
- 5+ years of experience in leading change initiatives and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across many teams.
- Strong skills in managing projects from inception to completion, with demonstrated ability to lead multiple teams to deliver results within time constraints and with strong focus on accuracy and details.
- Experience in conducting hands-on deep dives into issues, identifying root causes, and proposing practical solutions; ability to synthesize information quickly, extract key insights, and present insights to director-level stakeholders or higher.
- Demonstrated top-class people management skills, ability to mentor and guide team members, experience of building teams while fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Ability to think both strategically and tactically with strong attention to detail
- Ability to seamlessly work across functional and organizational boundaries, and reputation for influencing others and earning trust across levels and organizations
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with and influence various internal and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience in efficiently managing teams and demonstrating leadership to improve performance.
- Experience in online platforms, SOP definition, defects detection, process tuning with automation.
- Basic experience and understanding of data management and through data analysis, driving the optimization for process.
- Preferred background in business management, engineering, SCM, product/project management
- Fluent in Chinese and English
