Description du poste : The World Vegetable Center (WorldVeg) is a non-profit, autonomous international agricultural research center with

on breeding improved vegetable lines, developing and promoting good production practices, reducing postharvest

WorldVeg seeks an enthusiastic and dedicated Field Helper to work in production of pepper field trials. This may include
work under hot, humid conditions, to transplant and grow plants and conduct pesticide and fertilizer aplpication. In
addition, work in the greenhouse to maintain plants and to make hybridizations. The Field Helper postion will be part of
the Pepper Breeding Team.Key Responsibilities:

• Production of pepper seedlings for field and greenhouse experiments, including sowing, thinning, fertilization, and

maintenance of plastic-, screen-, and greenhouses.

• Assist in all aspects of pepper field trial establishment and maintenance, including land preparation, transplanting

seedlings, irrigation, pruning and staking, weed removal, pesticide applications harvesting, and data collection

• Perform pepper hybridizations, including pollen collection, emasculation and pollination, fruit harvest and seed

extraction, drying, and packing.

• Assist pepper seed storage and record-keeping of pepper breeding materials, including seed quantities.
• Perform any other duties as required by the needs of the Center and the Supervisor

Required Qualifications and Competencies (Technical and Behavioral)

• BSc, associate’s degree, or high school diploma.
• Practical experinece in agriculture, particially in vegetable production and manamgnet – including fertilization,

irrigation, and other production practives.

• Experience in pest and disease diagnostics and management is preferred.
• Good communication skills in writing and speaking Mandarin and Taiwanese.
• Able to work as a member of interdisciplinary research teams, multi-culturally, multi-nationally, multi-task, and
