Role Purpose:The Intermediate End User Support Technician will play a key role in the successful deployment of Windows 11 across departments. The technician will execute hands-on upgrades of endpoint devices, perform user data backups and restorations, and ensure minimal disruption to operations. The role also includes technical support, documentation, and user engagement throughout the deployment lifecycle.Key Responsibilities:Pre-Deployment:
- Participate in device readiness assessments and environment testing
- Assist with user scheduling and deployment logistics
- Ensure all tools, software, and storage media are ready and functional
Deployment Phase:
- Perform secure backup of user data using encrypted portable drives
- Install and configure Windows 11 on allocated user devices
- Restore user files and settings post-installation
- Conduct post-upgrade checks for functionality (e.g., applications, printers, network access)
- Address and resolve common technical issues; escalate complex issues to senior support
- Obtain user confirmation and sign-off post-installation
Post-Deployment:
- Log deployment activities and user confirmations accurately
- Contribute to quality assurance checks and incident reports
- Support users during the initial transition to Windows 11
- Capture lessons learned and assist with project closure documentation
RequirementsRequired Skills and Experience:Qualifications:
- National Diploma or Degree in Information Technology or related field.
- CompTIA A+ and N+ Certifications (advantageous).
- Microsoft certifications such as MD-100 or MD-102 (beneficial)
Experience:
- 3–5 years in desktop or end-user IT support roles.
- Previous experience in OS upgrades or desktop migration projects.
- Strong understanding of Windows 10 and Windows 11 environments.
- Experience with backup and restoration of user data.
Technical Competencies:
- Imaging, reinstallation, and endpoint configuration
- Familiarity with encrypted storage tools and file verification
- Effective troubleshooting of device drivers, connectivity, and application issues
- Knowledge of endpoint security best practices
Soft Skills:
- Professional verbal and written communication
- Positive, client-service oriented attitude
- Ability to operate independently or within a deployment team
- High attention to detail in technical execution and record-keeping
Contract Requirements:
- Availability for full duration of the 4-month rollout
- Ability to travel to various deployment sites as needed
- Compliance with client security protocols and project procedures
- Own reliable transport (advantageous but not mandatory)
