Objectif du Poste

Le Clinical Nurse Specialist sera chargé de délivrer des soins conformes aux cinq concepts fondamentaux définis dans le cadre du développement des postes d’infirmiers spécialistes tel que précisé par le National Council for the Professional Development of Nursing and Midwifery (NCNM) en 2008.

Tâches et Responsabilités

Le candidat retenu assumera diverses fonctions, notamment :

  • Responsabilité de la coordination clinique et managériale des services de neurologie.
  • Travail en étroite collaboration avec les équipes médicales pour fournir des soins fondés sur des preuves.
  • Coopération avec le Consultant Neurologiste pour innover dans la livraison de services, y compris le développement de cliniques dirigées par des infirmiers.
  • Participation active dans l’amélioration de la qualité des soins et collaboration avec la direction des soins infirmiers.
  • Suivi et audit des normes cliniques de soins.
  • Communication efficace entre les différents membres de l’équipe multidisciplinaire.
  • Développement de mécanismes de communication entre les deux hôpitaux pour assurer une prise en charge sécurisée.
  • Assistance en cas d’incidents majeurs ou d’urgences internes.

Critères d’Éligibilité

Les candidats doivent répondre à un ensemble de critères précis :

  1. Être titulaire d’un enregistrement en cours auprès de la Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland, et posséder :

    • Au moins 1 an d’expérience en soins infirmiers dans le domaine de la neurologie.
    • Une qualification de niveau 9 (QQI), ou équivalente, pertinente au domaine de spécialité.
  2. Un développement professionnel continu (DPC) pertinent est requis, tout comme la capacité à pratiquer de manière sécurisée et efficace.

  3. Les candidats doivent pouvoir démontrer une connaissance approfondie et une capacité à diriger dans le domaine des soins neurologiques.

Il est à noter que le respect de l’enregistrement annuel et la capacité à exercer en toute sécurité sont essentiels pour maintenir le poste.

The purpose of this Clinical Nurse Specialist – Neurology post is to:Deliver care in line with the five core concepts of the role set out in the Framework for the Establishment of Clinical Nurse Specialist Posts, 4th edition, National Council for the Professional Development of Nursing and Midwifery (NCNM) 2008.Caseload – Adults aged over 16 years with Neurological Conditions.Clinical Nurse Specialist – Neurology will focus initially on the following:

  • Have responsibility for leading and co-ordinating the clinical, managerial and educational requirements of the Neurology Services. This includes acting as an expert resource for the team to support them in the delivery of effective care.
  • Work as an integral member of the nursing and multidisciplinary team involved in the provision of evidence-based care to the patients who attend the Neurology Service.
  • Work with the Consultant Neurologist to facilitate innovations in service delivery, including, but not limited to, the development of a nurse-led clinic.
  • Play a proactive role in quality and service improvement and working closely with the Assistant Director of Nursing.
  • They will also be responsible for the monitoring and auditing of clinical standards of care.
  • Liaise appropriately with the Multidisciplinary Team members to ensure safe timely and effective care.
  • Develop communication mechanisms between Tallaght University Hospital and the Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise to ensure safe systems between both sites.
  • Support and encourage staff in implementation of hospital procedures and policies.
  • Assist in the event of a major incidents or internal emergencies within the hospital.

Eligibility Criteria, Qualifications and / or Experience1. Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc(a) Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition: –(i) Be a registered nurse on the active Register of Nurses & Midwives held by An Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland) or be eligible to be so registered.AND(ii) Be registered in the General Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann) Register for which the application is being made or be entitled to be so registered.OR(iii) In exceptional circumstances, which will be assessed on a case by case basis be registered in another Division of the register of Nurses and Midwives.AND(iv) Have a minimum of 1 years’ post registration full-time experience or an aggregate of 1 years’ full-time experience in the division of the register in which the application is being made (taking into account (ii) (iii) if relevant).AND(v) Have a minimum of 1 years’ experience or an aggregate of 1 years’ full-time experience in specialist area of Neurology Nursing Care.AND(vi) Have successfully completed a post registration programme of study, as certified by the education provider which verifies that the applicant has achieved a Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) major academic Level 9 or higher award that is relevant to the specialist area of care (equivalent to 60 ECTS or above), and in line with the requirements for specialist practice as set out by the National Council for Nursing and Midwifery 4th ed (2008).Alternatively provide written evidence from the Higher Education Institute that they have achieved the number of ECTS credits equivalent to a Level 9 or higher standard, relevant to the specialist area of care (equivalent to 60 ECTS or above), and in line with the requirements for specialist practice as set out by the National Council for Nursing and Midwifery 4th ed (2008). For Neurology Nursing of Care prior to application* (See Note 1 below).AND(vii) Be required to demonstrate that they have continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the specialist area.AND(viii) Have the ability to practice safely and effectively fulfilling his / her professional responsibility within his / her scope of practice.*Note 1:For Nurses / Midwives who express an interest in CNS / CMS roles and who currently hold a level 8 educational qualification in the specialist area (equivalent to 60 ECTS or above), this qualification will be recognised up to September 2026.AND(b) Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability and clinical, leadership, managerial and administrative capacity for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.2.
