Description du rôle
La position de Responsable de la Performance Physique est essentielle au sein de l’organisation, englobant divers aspects de la préparation physique pour le rugby à haut niveau. Les responsabilités incluent :
- Leadership et Management : Fournir une direction stratégique à l’équipe de performance physique, tout en promouvant une culture d’amélioration continue.
- Force et Conditioning : Superviser le développement d’un programme de performance académique reconnu au niveau national, adapté aux besoins des athlètes de rugby.
- Nutrition Performante : Apporter des conseils nutritionnels d’expert favorisant la performance et la récupération des athlètes.
- Analyse de Données : Collecter et analyser des données de performance pour évaluer l’efficacité des programmes et générer des rapports informatifs.
- Prévention des Blessures : Collaborer avec le personnel médical pour élaborer des stratégies de prévention adaptées.
Critères de candidature
Les candidats idéaux afficheront un ensemble de compétences et d’expériences, notamment :
- 2-5 ans d’expérience en force et conditioning au sein d’une équipe performante.
- Un diplôme en sciences du sport, mouvements humains, ou discipline connexe, bien que cela ne soit pas essentiel.

Head of Physical Performance – AcademyPURPOSE
The position of head of physical performance holds a crucial leadership role within Wellington Rugby, with responsibilities encompassing the supervision of physical development, strength and conditioning, and performance nutrition for all performance pathway programmes.This role serves as a central figure in the comprehensive preparation of our athletes, ensuring they are optimally primed for peak performance leading into, during, and beyond the representative season.SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and Management:
▪ Provide visionary leadership to the Physical Performance department, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
▪ Support leadership and a team of strength and conditioning coaches, and support staff.
▪ Develop and implement performance plans aligned with the overall strategic goals of Wellington Rugby.Strength and Conditioning:
▪ Oversee the development and implementation of a nationally recognised high-performance academy programme.
▪ Tailor the programme to the specific needs of the group required to promote athletic growth and future success at elite levels of rugby.
▪ Prepare all academy players for peak performance leading up to and during their performance window.
▪ Monitor all athletes’ physical progress and adapt training plans as necessary to optimize performance
and minimize injury risk.
▪ Utilize cutting-edge technology and methodologies to enhance athlete development.Performance Nutrition:
▪ Responsible for providing expert nutritional guidance, with the goal of enhancing performance, recovery, and overall
well-being.
▪ Educating all HP athletes on proper nutrition strategies and dietary habits.
▪ Continue to stay up to date with the latest advancements in sports nutrition.Data Analysis and Reporting:
▪ Collect and analyse performance data to evaluate the effectiveness of training and nutrition programs.
▪ Generate regular reports to share insights and recommendations with coaching and management staff.Injury Prevention:
▪ Collaborate with medical staff to develop injury prevention strategies and protocols.
▪ Work closely with physiotherapists and medical professionals to facilitate player rehabilitation.Budget Management:
▪ Manage the physical performance department budget efficiently, ensuring resources are allocated

- 2-5 years of experience in strength and conditioning or athlete development within a high-performance team environment or similar, with a proven ability to enhance athlete performance and support long-term development.
- A degree in Sports and Exercise Science, Human Movement, or a related discipline is preferable, but not essential.
- Strong leadership capabilities, with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, manage staff, and positively influence team culture and performance.
- Demonstrated leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence and engage diverse stakeholders.
- A curious mindset with the drive to innovate and evolve physical performance systems.
- A commitment to athlete well-being, diversity, and inclusion across the high-performance environment.
