- Japanese multinational forwarder
- We are seeking OCEAN FREIGHT OPERATION MANAGER – with details as follows :
THE JOB :
- Report to General Manager of Hong Kong offiec
- Lead and manage an Ocean Operation team of 8 members
- Oversee daily ocean freight operations, including shipment planning, tracking, and documentation.
- Ensure timely and cost-effective movement of goods via sea transport.
- Monitor and optimize shipping schedules, routes, and delivery times.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, freight carriers, and other service providers.
- Negotiate contracts and freight rates to achieve cost efficiency.
- Ensure all operations comply with international shipping regulations and company policies.
- Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Act as a point of contact for escalated customer issues, providing timely and effective solutions.
- Collaborate with the sales team to address client needs and implement new services.
- Prepare and analyze operational reports to identify areas for improvement.
- Develop strategies to enhance service levels and reduce costs.
- Tertiary education preferably in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Studies, or a related field.
- 10+ years experience in ocean freight operations in forwarders
- 3+ years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of international shipping regulations and procedures.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Good connections with vendors, shipping lines, freight carriers, and other service providers
- Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of Japanese is a significant advantage.
- Familiarity with the Japanese work culture and business practices is a plus.
