- Operation of water infrastructure systems to provide a secured supply of water for licensed water users including Winagmi Canal, municipalities, industry, the aquatic environment, and recreational users.
- Operation of critical water infrastructure – such as dams, reservoirs, lake stabilization structures, etc. – during normal and emergency situations to adhere with project-specfic operation plans.
- Conducting infrastructure inspections, identifying and documenting deficiencies and coordinating follow-up corrective maintenance and repair work orders.
- Participating in the dam safety monitoring and surveillance program, including collecting geotechnical instrumentation field data.
- Participating in emergency preparedness planning, exercises, and stakeholder engagement for potential flood or dam structural emergencies.
- Conducting preventative maintenance and repair projects and coordinating with contractors, other departments and stakeholders, as necessary.
- Participating in a standby/on-call rotation for the critical infrastructure systems as required.
- Providing operational input into capital rehabilitation projects, engineering investigations, and dam safety assessments.
- Supervising and leading one or more direct report technologists.
As the ideal candidate for the O&M Supervisor position, you will possess:
- Experience with operation and maintenance of water management infrastructure (dams, canals, hydraulic regulating structures) or related industrial facilities and civil infrastructure.
- Proficiency in monitoring and data management systems such as SCADA – Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition.
- Ability to supervise staff and contractors, manage performance, and ensure operational compliance in a similar operational or maintenance environment.
- Capability to participate in flood routing exercises and provide support during high-water events.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint etc.

QualificationsMinimum Recruitment Standard for Technologies 6 classification:Two-year technical diploma in a related field plus six years related experience; or equivalent as described belowEquivalency:

- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
Related diplomas or degrees including but not limited to the following fields will be considered:
- Civil or Mechanial Engineering
- Environmental Management
- Water Resources Management
Assets will be considered as follows:
- C.E.T or C. Tech designation with ASET
- Occupational Health and Safety training (e.g., First Aid, fall protection, confined space entry).
- 6+ years of supervisory experience with water management infrastructure
- Expert level proficiency using specialized systems for monitoring and data management such as SCADA – Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition and WISKI – Water Management Information System by Kisters.
Additional assets will be considered as follows:
- Working knowledge of dam and canal system operations.
- Contract management experience.
- Familiarity with Alberta’s Water Act, and Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation, and Code.
