Rôle et Responsabilités Principales
En tant que Technicien Mécanique, vos responsabilités incluront :
- Opérer et superviser les systèmes de contrôle de l’usine centrale de chauffage et les équipements auxiliaires.
- Surveiller et inspecter l’équipement pour assurer leur fonctionnement sûr et efficace, en détectant les anomalies.
- Conduire des activités de maintenance préventive et corrective sur les systèmes de chauffage à la vapeur.
- Tenir des journaux des opérations et consigner les conditions de l’usine.
- Garantir l’exactitude des rapports de log et des matériaux utilisés dans le cadre des travaux effectués.
- Agir en tant que superviseur de quart lorsque nécessaire, en accord avec la réglementation en vigueur.
Qualifications Requises
Les candidats idéaux posséderont :
- Un certificat de compétence valide de troisième classe en ingénierie des puissances, avec préférences pour les candidats expérimentés en centrale de puissance à haute pression.
- Au moins trois ans d’expérience dans un environnement similaire ou un diplôme de niveau collégial (deux ans).
- Un permis de conduire valide de Classe 5 en Nouvelle-Écosse.
- La capacité d’obtenir et de maintenir une habilitation de sécurité avec fiabilité renforcée.
Modalités de Travail
Rémunération : 52,92 $ CAD de l’heure avec un horaire de 40 heures par semaine.

We work on behalf of DND’s “no fail” mission at Goose Bay: supporting NORAD operations for the projection of air power on the north and northeast coasts of Canada, while supporting military training for the Canadian Armed Forces, Allies and NORAD. 5 Wing Goose Bay provides effective training facilities, adaptable infrastructures, and a unique, austere, and challenging training location.Currently, Serco Canada has over 1,200 employees across four provinces, including a strong and growing Indigenous workforce.You will be part of a team that works closely with the military customer and other Serco teams to deliver quality and efficient services to DND. Industry Excellence Recognition Award for Gender and Diversity Excellence.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate the Central Heating Plant’s control systems, and auxiliary equipment such as Air Compressors, Water Softener Plant and other plant equipment to meet steam demand loads for all facilities connected on the Steam distribution system.
- Monitor and inspect plant equipment, switches, valves, gauges, alarms, meters and other instruments to measure temperature, pressure and fuel flow, to detect leaks or other equipment malfunctions and to ensure efficient, safe operation of all related equipment/systems.
- Conduct heating/steam system work activities required to operate, install, service, repair, or replace steam heating or steam distribution systems componenets.
- Maintain logs as directed and record all conditions concerning the Plant.
- Remotely monitor various buildings control systems using a computer and field equipment PM’s.
- Work with Shift Supervisor in overseeing all activities of other trades personnel who may be working in the Plant.
- Act as Shift Supervisor when required as per the NL Boiler, Pressure Vessel and Compressed Air Regulations and the NL Public Safety Act.
- Perform mechanical tasks, and maintenance on all plant equipment, and Steam distribution systems.
- Analyze and record instrument readings and equipment malfunctions and make adjustments or repairs as required.
- Read and interpret specifications, scopes, sketches or drawings to determine the layout of heating systems, and steam distribution requirements.
- Monitor the storage area and keep a record of materials used.
- Document all information concerning the work performed, labour and materials used to complete assigned work.
- Participate in assigned training/certification to perform work of the contract.
- Ensure all assigned plant log reports are completed accurately and on time.
- Visibly demonstrate Serco Values and work practices while completing duties.

- Preference will be given to persons in possession of a valid Inter-Provincial Power Engineering Third Class Certificate of competency or Third Class accepted in the Province of Newfoundland.
- Three years’ experience in a high-pressure power plant or two year – diploma course at a reputable college will be considered an asset.
- Possession of a valid NL Class 5 driver’s license is required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Enhanced Reliability security clearance is required. May be required to upgrade to Secret Level II (dependent upon customer’s security requirements).
- Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening test.
- Ability to obtain a drivers abstract.
- Will accept a valid Inter-Provincial Power Engineering Fourth Class Certificate of competency providing you are actively pursuing your Third Class certification.
