Learn more at and on and .Principal Engineer, Mechanical EngineeringJob Summary:We are seeking a hands-on experienced Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design activities and serve as the key technical interface with our Contract Manufacturing (CM) partners. This role is critical in ensuring robust, manufacturable medical devices and supporting successful Design Transfer into production. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical design skills, in-depth knowledge of medical device regulations and standards, proven track record in transferring products to manufacturing, and the ability to coordinate technical activities with external manufacturing partners, logistics and operations.Key Responsibilities:
- Lead mechanical design efforts, emphasizing Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) best practices.
- Support Design Transfer activities, ensuring manufacturing readiness and smooth transition from development to production.
- Act as the primary technical contact for CM partners, coordinating on build issues, part changes, and process updates.
- Monitor CM-managed BoM changes and part sourcing decisions; communicate impacts and risks to internal Product, Design, and Supply Chain teams.
- Thoroughly review manufacturing documentation, including drawings, tolerances, validations, and process updates.
- Collaborate with Supplier Quality and Operations teams to ensure regulatory and quality alignment with ISO13485 as well as internal QMS and compliance with safety standards.
- Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives during manufacturing.
- Track and report key manufacturing KPIs (e.g., yield, throughput, cost impacts) in collaboration with CM partners.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in mechanical design and/or manufacturing engineering (medical device experience preferred).
- Proven experience working with Contract Manufacturers and managing design transfer activities for a regulated product.
- Strong & demonstrated DFM/DFA knowledge and hands-on mechanical design expertise (SolidWorks preferred).
- Good understanding of BoM management concepts and supply chain considerations.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in CAD software and other relevant engineering tools. SolidWorks experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree a plus.
- Experience with high-volume manufacturing or offshore CMs, in addition to logistics teams.
- Six Sigma, Lean, or PMP certification.
