As an internationally active and well-known group with more than 1600 colleagues working in more than 30 locations, we help our customers in industries including Shipping, Energy, Humanitarian to run their business remotely in ever smarter, more profitable and sustainable ways.Job overview:We are seeking a highly skilled Product Development Engineer with deep expertise in LAN and WAN networks, wireless networking, captive portals, and network security. The successful candidate will focus on the development and productization of network solutions tailored for Managed Service Provider (MSP) offerings. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and optimize network solutions that ensure seamless operation, high security, and scalability for our customers.Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and optimize LAN and WAN network architectures for MSP-managed environments, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance.
  • Develop and enhance wireless networking solutions, including Wi-Fi access points, mesh networks, and network optimization techniques for MSP deployments.
  • Design and implement captive portals solutions for guest authentication, policy enforcement, and user engagement within an MSP framework.
  • Evaluate and implement security measures to protect networks from threats such as unauthorized access, malware, and data breaches, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with product management and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of network solutions into MSP service offerings.
  • Work with network automation and monitoring tools to streamline MSP operations and ensure proactive network management.
  • Perform network security assessments and provide recommendations for improving security policies and configurations.
  • Collaborate with software development teams to integrate network solutions with cloud-based services and enterprise systems.
  • Stay up to date with emerging networking technologies and industry best practices to drive innovation in product development.
  • Document designs, configurations, and processes to ensure maintainability and knowledge sharing within the team.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in product development with a focus on networking technologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of LAN, WAN, and wireless networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VPN, VLANs).
  • Strong expertise in wireless networks, including Wi-Fi 6, access point configuration, and RF optimization.
  • Experience with captive portals, including user authentication methods (RADIUS, OAuth, LDAP, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of network security principles, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, encryption, and authentication protocols.
  • Hands-on experience with networking hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, access points) and software-defined networking (SDN).
  • Familiarity with cloud-based networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) and network automation tools.
  • Experience working with MSP environments, including multi-tenant networking solutions and service-oriented network architectures.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Bash, Ansible) is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, CWNP, CISSP, Fortinet NSE, or equivalent).
  • Experience with IoT networking, edge computing, and network analytics.
  • Knowledge of SD-WAN, Zero Trust security models, and MSP-specific network architectures.
