Description du poste : La Basel Academy of Art and Design FHNW se distingue par son ambiance accueillante et transformative. L’établissement, composé de cinq instituts, recherche un nouveau responsable pour diriger l’Institut des Environnements de Communication Numérique (IDCE). Ce rôle implique une chaire universitaire axée sur la recherche dans des domaines tels que la communication visuelle, les cultures numériques et le design médiatique.
Responsabilités Principales
Les responsabilités du candidat retenu incluent :
- Leadership de l’institut IDCE, incluant la gestion stratégique, budgétaire et human resources.
- Participation active au Conseil de Direction de HGK Basel, avec un rôle dans le travail des comités internes et externes.
- Positionnement stratégique et réseautage à l’échelle régionale et internationale.
- Rôle de responsable de la recherche, avec des tâches porter sur l’obtention de financements externes, la conduite d’initiatives de recherche, ainsi que la publication et la présentation de résultats académiques.
- Renforcement du lien entre recherche et enseignement, favorisant la collaboration interdisciplinaire.
Profil Recherché
Le candidat idéal doit posséder les qualifications suivantes :
- Titre universitaire (MA) et doctorat (PhD) ou une expérience de recherche internationale significative dans un domaine lié au design.
- Expérience significative en leadership, incluant la gestion des ressources humaines et financières, ainsi que la stratégie et le développement.
- Expertise en recherche et enseignement dans des domaines comme le design graphique, la communication visuelle et l’UX/UI design.
- Réseau de recherche établi et antécédents de financements pour des projets de recherche.
- Compétences en méthodologies d’enseignement innovantes et capacité à intégrer la recherche dans l’enseignement.
- Excellentes compétences en communication et en organisation.
- Compétences linguistiques en allemand et en anglais, tant à l’oral qu’à l’écrit.

We are looking for a new head for one of its five institutes. This involves a professorship with a focus on research, which is orientated towards topics of visual communication, digital cultures and media design.Diversity at the university – we seek differentnessYour tasksThe Institute Digital Communication Environments (IDCE) at the Basel Academy of Art and Design FHNW (HGK Basel) comprises a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programme as well as a research and continuing education division.Your responsibilities include:
- Leadership of the IDCE Institute, including strategic direction, budget and personnel management, as well as overseeing development, planning, and implementation.
- Active participation in the Management Board of HGK Basel, contributing to internal and external committee work.
- Strategic positioning and networking of the IDCE on both regional and international levels.
- Head of Research at IDCE, responsible for securing third-party funding, leading research initiatives, publishing in academic journals, presenting at conferences and exhibitions, and supervising PhD candidates.
- Strengthening the connection between research and teaching within the institute as well as across the university to promote interdisciplinary collaboration, including active participation in teaching.
Your profileYou hold a university degree (MA) and a doctorate (PhD) or have several years of Equivalent distinguished international research experience in a design discipline or related field.Furthermore, you meet the following criteria:
- You have extensive leadership experience, incl. human resources, finance, strategy and development.
- You have several years of high-profile research and teaching experience, particularly in one or more of the following areas: Graphic Design, Digital Design, Visual Communication, Visual Cultures, UX/UI Design, Generative AI, Game Design, Editorial Design, Media Design.
- You have an established research network, can demonstrate high quality research outputs, andalready have successfully acquired third-party funding for research projects.
- You have experience with innovative teaching methods and the implementation of high-quality, research-led and practice-orientated teaching.
- You have excellent communication and organisational skills.
- You hold a qualification in higher education didactics or are willing to acquire this within the first few years.
- You possess excellent German and English language skills in both spoken and written form
