Responsabilités clés
En tant qu’Interprète éducatif AUSLAN, vous serez chargé de :
- Interpréter les communications en classe et en dehors, facilitant ainsi l’accès à l’éducation pour les élèves sourds ou malentendants.
- Assurer une compréhension claire des programmes scolaires à travers du tutorat dirigé par les enseignants.
- Préparer les matériels d’interprétation en lisant les notes de cours à l’avance.
- Créer un environnement d’apprentissage inclusif, respectant la santé et la sécurité des élèves.
- Favoriser l’indépendance et la confiance des élèves sourds ou malentendants dans divers contextes.
Profil recherché
Les candidats doivent démontrer des compétences contemporaines, notamment :
- Expérience dans l’évaluation et le suivi des progrès des élèves.
- Capacité à créer des méthodes d’enseignement diversifiées.
- Connaissance des besoins spécifiques des élèves premiers nations et internationaux.
- Un Certificat III en soutien éducatif est requis.
- La religion catholique n’est pas une exigence pour ce poste.

About the opportunityIn addition to the School Officer Level 4 Role Statement from BCE, as a School Officer, Educational Interpreter, Auslan, you will:
- Interpret everything that is said in and outside the classroom environment and assist with the communicative needs of Deaf or Hard of Hearing students using Australian Sign Language (Auslan) according to the specific needs of the Deaf or Hard of Hearing student.
- Orally interpret when a Deaf or Hard of Hearing student uses sign language to address the class; when working in a small group and when communicating with another individual student or the teacher.
- Assist in the Deaf or Hard of Hearing student’s understanding of the education program through teacher directed tutoring to ensure that the education program is understood. This may include checking for understanding, working on difficult vocabulary and clarifying homework directions.
- Prepare for interpreting by pre-reading appropriate materials such as lesson notes.
- Provide classroom and school level support to enable the learning environment to be inclusive and relevant, with the health and safety of students a high priority.
- Provide support to class teachers during classroom activities through the preparation of teacher designed materials for Deaf or Hard of Hearing students.
- Assist the Deaf or Hard of Hearing student to develop confidence, independence and a sense of well-being, through a variety of approaches across educational and social settings.
- Maintain effective communication between students and teachers at all times.
About youTo be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:
- Experience assessing and monitoring student progress to identify areas for targeted intervention
- Exposure to creating diverse teaching methods and assessments to accommodate various learning styles
- Skilled in developing strategies to enhance student learning outcomes based on individual needs
- Experience in collaborating with specialists to address student needs
- Knowledge about the specific needs for First Nations and international students including cultural considerations
- Certificate III in Education Support
