Ce poste académique à temps partiel est offert au sein de l’Institut de Médecine Clinique de l’Université d’Oslo, en étroite collaboration avec le Département de Microbiologie de l’OUH. Le candidat retenu effectuera un travail clinique dans tous les sites du Département de Microbiologie.

Responsabilités et Missions

Le Consultant Senior aura plusieurs tâches clés :

  • Contribuer aux opérations quotidiennes du Département, incluant la validation des résultats de tests, la supervision des médecins en formation, et la participation à des réunions interdisciplinaires.
  • Participer à la planification de nouvelles activités au sein d’une unité harmonisée à la future Life Science Building.
  • Implication dans le service d’astreinte partagé à Rikshospitalet.

Qualifications Requises

Les candidats doivent posséder les qualifications suivantes :

  • Autorisation norvégienne en tant que médecin.
  • Spécialisation dans le domaine de la microbiologie médicale.
  • Expérience de recherche significative, particulièrement dans la résistance aux antimicrobiens (AMR).
  • Compétences linguistiques en norvégien ou dans une langue scandinave équivalente.

The Department of Microbiology (MIK) has integrated hospital and university functions, with diagnostic activities currently at the Rikshospitalet and Ullevål locations of Oslo University Hospital (OUH). MIK performs laboratory-based infection diagnostics for patients admitted to the Oslo hospitals and from patients in the primary health service, and approximately 1.5 million analyses are performed annually. The Department has a broad diagnostic repertoire within bacteriology, virology, mycology, infection serology, and parasitological diagnostics. In addition, infection control is carried out on blood donors and transplant donors. MIK has several regional tasks and national reference functions, including diagnostics related to HIV, Clostridioides, syphilis, cytomegalovirus, toxoplasmosis, medical mycology, molecular parasitology and viral import diseases. See also the Department’s website.The Department has 23.5 medical doctor positions, 18.5 senior consultant positions and 5 training positions for doctors (specialty registrars, medical microbiology). Three of the senior consultants have an adjunct position at the University of Oslo, in addition to two 100% professors at the University of Oslo who are senior consultants in an adjunct position.The Department is organized into 8 sections: Medicine; Bacteriology; Molecular Diagnostics, Virology and Serology; Research; Development; Control and production; Sample reception; Quality, IT and operational support. The environment is academically exciting, educational and at times hectic.The research activity is extensive and includes both basic biological research and translational research. Basic research is particularly related to DNA repair, genome stability, epigenetics and horizontal gene transfer. Translational research includes studies in bacteriology, virology, mycology, parasitology, molecular biology, bioinformatics, with a particular focus on antimicrobial resistance (AMR), especially in bacteria and fungi as well as well as pathogenesis in bacterial and viral infections. Going forward, AMR, infection biology (microbe-host interaction) and pandemic preparedness will be particularly important for OUS.The department educates medical microbiologists, provides practical training to biomedical laboratory technician students and participates in the teaching of medical students by being closely linked to the Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo.Our department is currently undergoing major reorganizations with the introduction of a common laboratory data system, harmonization between two locations and the unification of the entire department in the Life Science Building in 2027.The main position (70 %) will be that of a senior consultant. The person appointed will mainly participate in bacteriological and/or mycological diagnostics related to antimicrobial resistance (AMR) at the Bacteriology unit at Rikshopitalet, until they are moved to LVB.Tasks

  • Contribute to the daily operations and routine diagnostics of the Section, including assessment and evaluation of clinical samples, validation of test results, supervision, training of specialty registrars and other professional groups, supervision of clinicians, participation in interdisciplinary meetings and grand rounds, teaching, quality assurance and procedural work, as well as participation in ongoing harmonization work.
  • The consultants actively participate in the planning of new activities and harmonization in a unified Department in the Life Science Building.
  • Participation in 10 shared on-call scheme at Rikshopitalet is currently expected.

Qualifications

  • Norwegian authorisation as a medical doctor
  • Approved specialist in medical microbiology
  • Significant high-level research experience
  • Broad experience in bacteriology is desired
  • Emphasis is placed on high expertise in antimicrobial resistance (AMR)
  • The applicant must have relevant research experience and a strong motivation to contribute to the ongoing and new research activities at the department
  • Formal competence and/or experience in management
  • Experience with reorganization and harmonization work is emphasized
  • Documented language skills in Norwegian or a compatible Scandinavian language is required.
