Office amenities include a fitness center, cafe, and recreational facilities.Job DescriptionPosition OverviewWe are seeking a seasoned Senior Database Architect with expertise in both on-premise and AWS cloud environments to lead the design, development, and administration of enterprise database solutions. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in Oracle, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL databases, along with proficiency in scripting, advanced configurations for high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR), and performance tuning. The role involves collaborating with Applications Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, and Data Platform teams to ensure scalable, secure, and optimized database systems that meet the organization’s needs, particularly in the financial services industry.This position requires a hands-on leader who can establish and enforce database standards and guidelines, leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, and apply DevOps principles to streamline database operations.Key Responsibilities

• Database Design and Development:

• Architect and implement enterprise-grade database solutions with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance across Oracle, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL platforms.
• Lead database schema design, data modeling, and optimization efforts to support application performance and business requirements.
• Advanced Configurations:

• Design and implement HA and DR solutions to ensure database uptime and resilience.
• Configure and optimize databases for peak performance, addressing complex workloads and query tuning.
• Standards and Guidelines:

• Establish and enforce database architecture standards, development best practices, and operational guidelines.
• Provide thought leadership in database governance and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Collaboration and Leadership:

• Partner with Applications Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, and Data Platform teams to align database designs with application and business goals.
• Lead database and application design discussions, providing technical expertise and mentorship to cross-functional teams.
• DevOps and Automation:

• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) scripts using tools like Terraform for database deployment and management.
• Automate routine database administration tasks using shell scripting, Python, or other tools.
• Operational Excellence:

• Oversee all aspects of database administration, including installation, configuration, backup, recovery, and security.
• Perform capacity planning, system monitoring, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal database health and performance.
• Financial Services Expertise:

• Leverage industry-specific knowledge to design and implement database solutions tailored to the financial services domain.
• Ensure database systems comply with regulatory requirements and support critical financial applications.

Qualifications

• Technical Skills:

• Expert-level proficiency in Oracle and PostgreSQL databases, with advanced knowledge of NoSQL platforms like Couchbase or Cassandra.
• Extensive experience in database scripting, shell scripting, and automation tools.
• Strong understanding of HA/DR configurations, database scalability, and performance tuning best practices.
• Hands-on experience with IaC tools such as Terraform and CI/CD pipelines in a DevOps environment.
• Collaboration and Communication:

• Proven ability to lead technical discussions and collaborate with diverse teams, including engineering, architecture, and platform groups.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to articulate complex database concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Industry Experience:

• 7+ years of experience in database architecture and administration, with a focus on financial services.
• Demonstrated ability to design and maintain secure and compliant database systems in regulated industries.
• Education and Certifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Relevant certifications in database technologies (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, PostgreSQL certifications) and AWS cloud (e.g., AWS Certified Database – Specialty).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with database migrations and hybrid environments (on-premise to cloud).
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and database design for distributed systems.
• Knowledge of modern application development frameworks and integration strategies.
