In 2020, an alliance was formed between Vector and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to co-develop a cloud native data platform: Diverge. This team has evolved to become Vector Technology Services (VTS); a subsidiary of Vector, New Zealand’s largest distributor of electricity and gas.Through our strategy of delivering commercially valuable cloud native platforms that solve real problems right now, while primed for rapid evolution in the future, we work to deliver on our vision of creating a new energy future with the following considerations:

The roleDue to continued success, we are looking to grow our team with a Senior Software Developer on our new energy future mission. We are particularly after Intermediate Software Engineers, who are ready to take the next step into being a Senior.You’ll learn from and be inspired by our team of software developers and at the same time you will:

  • Use your advanced software development skills to build software – primarily in Java, but also at times with frontend frameworks like React, and infrastructure automation with Terraform
  • Grow in your role and in your career, collaborating with leading global partners such as AWS to build valuable software systems for a global customer base
  • Work in a stable, product-focused agile team and have a voice in what we build, and how we build it
  • Learn (and teach) how to use TDD, BDD, and automated application deployment for effective software delivery
  • Gain experience with AWS services like Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, IAM, and more.

Who are we looking for?You’ll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Software development experience: advanced knowledge in Backend programming with Java, Spring, and experience of using tooling and process to ensure quality in the software development life cycle
  • Cloud computing and AWS Skills – Proficient with AWS services like Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, IAM, and more. Understanding how to architect and implement serverless solutions using AWS.
  • DevOps / CICD – Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD Practises is essential including how to use tools for continuous integration and continuous delivery
  • Excitement about solving problems and a huger to learn
  • A passion for helping and caring for others in your team.
