Description du poste : We are looking for a talented and motivated Senior Specialist Legal Editor to work closely with our Director to research, write, and deliver well-written, up-to-date content for online publication. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of the Japanese legal market, excellent writing and translation skills, and the ability to develop and maintain relationships with third parties. The role will also involve supporting marketing and sales efforts, mentoring colleagues, and contributing to the development of Practical Law Japan and the broader Practical Law business.About the Role:
- Researching, writing, and delivering well-written, up-to-date content for online publication that reflects current market legal practice and is of the quality and scope that meets the business objectives and needs of customers.
- Translating and reviewing English to Japanese translations of legal content to ensure high quality and accurate delivery of information to customers; Updating Japanese content when changes are made to the English versions.
- Developing relationships with third parties with a view to obtaining contributions of content or improving content through third party insights into law or practice.
- Ensuring that you develop and maintain an excellent understanding of the legal market, our customers and their emerging needs, and competitors. This includes interacting effectively with customers, consultation boards and contributors, and working with all parts of the business to deliver insight into business strategies, other products, sales, marketing, and technology development.
- Attending training events, conferences and talks and otherwise networking with customers and potential customers and with industry leaders.
- Helping with the development of Practical Law Japan and, more generally with the development of Practical Law.
- Supporting marketing and sales and all other parts of the business to ensure delivery of business objectives.
- Supporting and mentoring colleagues in relation to writing and maintaining content and answering questions from customers, including through subediting and peer review.
About YouTo succeed in this exciting role as a Senior Specialist Legal Editor, Practical Law Japan, you’ll need to possess a unique combination of skills, experience, and qualities, including:
- Qualifications/certification to practice law in any jurisdiction
- Substantial post-qualification experience as a practicing lawyer (at a law firm, in-house, or in government)
- Excellent communication skills: with Japanese fluency required and good writing skills in English
- A passion for writing and outstanding editorial skills, including, very close attention to detail, and the ability to write in English about complex legal issues clearly and simply
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience at working to deadlines and able to prioritize and manage own workload
- Experience in assimilating and applying new complex information
- Excellent knowledge of online research databases
- Comfort working with ambiguity and in a matrixed environment and proven ability to build strong relationships and collaborate with diverse teams of people who bring different perspectives and lived experiences to the business
