In every aspect of our work, we are committed to helping whānau be the best they can be.He kōrero mō te tūranga | The Role:The specialist support service is designed to assist the child, young person, caregivers and their family/whanau to identify and address any current needs across all aspects of life.A Specialist Assessor assists clients/families to achieve goals that are important to them. Specialist Support Service is contracted to work with families for a 12 week period all referrals to the service come through Oranga Tamariki and needs to have a social worker attached.Specialist Support Service provides case coordination to support the child, young person and their families to engage with community supports that best suite their identified need. This role is a non-lead role which provides brief intervention and support to whanau when a need is identified. It also involves doing comprehensive needs assessment and case co-ordination for appropriate service direction of the child, young person and their family/caregivers.This role is Monday – Friday with travel involved outside of the area.He kōrero mōu | About You:We are looking for someone who is positive, flexible, vibrant, confident, and compassionate to work in our service. You’ll use your non-judgmental attitude and belief to motivate and encourage whānau realise their potential. You’ll have the ability to easily build professional relationships, while maintaining strong professional boundaries.To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A health or social services-related qualification would be beneficial.
- Experience in needs-based assessments and some experience in working within the community.
- 2 years of health or social services related experience.
- Experience working with children and families.
- Demonstrated commitment to recovery values and models, as well as risk management skills.
- Advanced communication and interpersonal skills including well developed documentation and computer skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi and culturally safe practice.
- Eligible to work in New Zealand.
- A current full driver’s licence.
