About the roleAre you passionate about creating exceptional customer experiences? Do you thrive on empowering others and working at the heart of the community?The Palmerston North City Library is looking for a new Team Leader Customer Experience. This is one of two leadership roles based at the Central Library – The Living Room of the City – responsible for guiding front facing teams whose focus is to ensure every interaction with library content, services, initiatives and spaces meets or exceeds customer expectation. You’ll oversee day-to-day service delivery leading a team of nine to deliver a professional, welcoming, inclusive and community-focused library experience.The role works Tuesday to Saturday and will include working some late nights as required.Key responsibilitiesPromote a proactive, future-focused approach to library services, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation to ensure relevance, engagement, and accessibility.Build a high performing team that adds exceptional value to the community through the delivery of a leading library service.Coach, mentor and motivate your team to continually surprise and delight our visitors.Use data, feedback and insights to guide service improvements and deliver meaningful outcomes for both current library users and potential users.Ensure library services and initiatives reflect community needs, organisational strategy and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.Act as a key point of escalation for customer issues, feedback, and safety concerns.About youYou’ll be an engaging and community-minded leader with:A tertiary qualification or significant experience in public libraries, education, customer service or community engagement.High level understanding of future focussed library services (including library systems) with the ability to use this knowledge to enhance the customer experience and connect with the community.Demonstrated success in building and supporting high-performing teams.Confidence in navigating change, leading innovation, and fostering collaboration across teams.A good understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how it applies to public library environments.About usPalmerston North (or as we like to call it, Palmy) is a growing, innovative and exciting city.
