Position Objectives
This role aims to transform the brand’s aesthetic vision into patterns. The Modelist will be responsible for mastering processes such as pattern drafting, fitting, layout, and specialized alterations, with a focus on couture.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaboration: Work closely with the design team to prepare patterns for collections and custom products.
- Technical Skills: Execute pattern drafting by hand and create technical drawings.
- Measurements: Take measurements from both dress forms and live models to create new patterns.
- Alterations: Reproduce patterns for repair and alteration tasks.
- Layout Planning: Prepare fabric layout arrangements prior to cutting through mock-ups.
- Sample Production: Collaborate effectively with the sewing team in sample and custom production.
- Customization: Develop configurations suitable for various fabric types.
- Documentation: Maintain an organized archive of patterns, measurement tables, and technical documentation.
Qualifications
- Education: Formal training in fashion design or pattern making.
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years as a Modelist.
- Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of haute couture and bespoke production processes.
- Technical Proficiency: Expertise in manual pattern drafting, mock-ups, and applications on dress forms.
- Experience in Alteration: Familiarity with alteration processes including adjustments and fitting corrections.
- Techniques: Proficiency in draping, tacking, and structured form techniques.
- Teamwork: Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Discipline: A detail-oriented, solution-focused work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in haute couture, bridal, or evening wear production.
- Capability in executing technical drawings and patterns manually.
- Ability to devise solutions tailored to different body types.
- Active involvement in sample tracking and fittings.
