L’objectif principal de ce poste est de soutenir l’adhésion des utilisateurs à la plateforme Destination Earth (DestinE). Au sein d’une équipe dynamique, le candidat retenu agira comme un point de contact technique pour les utilisateurs travaillant avec des données climatiques, en les accompagnant dans l’identification de leurs besoins et en transformant leurs retours en exigences concrètes.

Responsabilités Principales

Support aux utilisateurs :

• Être un interlocuteur technique pour les utilisateurs sur la plateforme.
• Collecter, analyser et catégoriser les exigences et retours d’expérience des utilisateurs.
• Fournir un soutien personnalisé aux nouveaux utilisateurs.
• Participer à la rédaction d’articles scientifiques et à des conférences.

Développement de produits :

• Collaborer avec des chercheurs et des développeurs pour traduire les besoins des utilisateurs en exigences techniques.
• Contribuer à l’évolution de l’accès aux données climatiques et à la documentation.

Expertise Technique :

• Apporter des compétences en matière de données climatiques (ex. : CMIP, ERA5, jeux de données Copernicus).
• Aider à la conception et à la validation de flux de traitement de données.
• Identifier les lacunes dans les outils ou la documentation et proposer des solutions.

Communication et Collaboration :

• Coordonner les équipes scientifiques, techniques et politiques au sein de l’initiative DestinE.
• Représenter les retours des utilisateurs lors de groupes de travail et de discussions internes.

Profil Recherché

Compétences et Qualifications :

• Diplôme en sciences de l’environnement, sciences climatiques, météorologie, ingénierie ou discipline technique connexe.
• Au moins 3 ans d’expérience dans l’utilisation de jeux de données climatiques et d’outils associés.
• Expérience dans des rôles orientés utilisateur ou soutien technique.
• Excellentes compétences en communication en anglais.
• Capacité à traduire des besoins complexes en actions concrètes au sein d’équipes interdisciplinaires.

Serco offers space capability across the full space lifecycle from satellite testing to launch services, LEOP to spacecraft operations, space surveillance to data management, and supporting downstream application development.We’re looking for an Earth Observation Scientist (Climate), to reinforce the team in our Italy office!A technically skilled and user-focused Earth Observation Scientist (Climate) to support the user uptake of the Destination Earth (DestinE) Platform. This role will be pivotal in engaging with platform current and potential users, understanding their needs, and translating feedback into actionable requirements. You will act as a bridge between users and technical stakeholders to help ensure the platform capabilities are aligned with user expectations and scientific relevance.We look forward to meeting you!Main ResponsibilitiesAs Earth Observation Scientist (Climate) you will be responsible for:User Segment Support

• Serve as a technical point of contact for platform users working with climate data.
• Collect, categorize, and analyse user requirements and feedback.
• Provide tailored support to new users of the platform.
• Participate to scientific papers and conferences

Product Development

• Collaborate with scientific/technical users, developers, scientists, and product managers to translate user needs into technical requirements.
• Participate in roadmap development and prioritization.
• Contribute to the evolution of climate data access, usability, and documentation.

Technical Expertise

• Provide expertise in climate and Earth system data (e.g., CMIP, ERA5, EC-Earth, Copernicus datasets).
• Assist in designing and validating data processing workflows.
• Identify gaps in tools, documentation, or data offerings and propose solutions.

Communication & Collaboration

• Coordinate across teams (scientific, technical, policy) within the DestinE initiative.
• Represent user feedback in working groups and internal discussions.

Successful CandidateYour skills:

• Education: Degree in environmental science, climate science, meteorology, engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 3+ years experience working with climate datasets and tools (e.g., NetCDF, xarray, CDO, Python, GIS tools).
• Familiarity with user-facing roles or experience in technical support, user engagement, or requirements gathering.
• Strong communication and documentation skills in English.
• Ability to work across interdisciplinary teams and translate complex needs into actionable items.
