Responsabilités du poste

En tant qu’Ecologist, vous jouerez un rôle clé dans la coordination de la durabilité environnementale et la protection écologique durant les phases de construction de ce projet d’envergure. 

Missions principales :

  • Support à l’Environmental Sustainability Manager et à l’équipe environnementale pour garantir la conformité législative et la mise en œuvre des mesures de mitigation écologiques.
  • Supervision des activités sur site pour assurer l’application des contrôles écologiques, en tant qu’Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW).
  • Collaboration avec les sous-traitants, consultants écologiques et parties prenantes pour maintenir des standards élevés en matière de protection environnementale.
  • Contribution à la rédaction de déclarations méthodologiques écologiques, à la conformité des licences de species, ainsi qu’à la réalisation d’enquêtes sur site.

Profil recherché

Compétences et qualifications requises :

  • Diplôme de niveau Licence ou Master en écologie ou domaine connexe.
  • Expérience avérée dans le secteur de la construction, en lien avec des projets d’Infrastructure de Service d’Intérêt Public (NSIP).
  • Pratique de l’EcoW et connaissance des législations écologiques.
  • Appartenance à des institutions professionnelles telles que l’Institute of Ecology and Environmental Managers (IEMA).
  • Permis de conduire valide au Royaume-Uni et disposition à voyager.

Compétences souhaitées :

  • Qualification d’auditeur environnemental.
  • Master dans un domaine pertinent.
  • Connaissance de l’ISO 14001.

📝 Description du poste : About the roleBe part of this ‘once in a generation’ project that will deliver clean energy to 6 million homes for the next 60 years. Sizewell C will see the creation of a 3.2 Gigawatt nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast to provide reliable load low-carbon electricity.The Civil Works Alliance is an extended delivery enterprise involving Sizewell C and three international construction companies: Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O’Rourke.We are more than just an alliance, we are bringing together a single delivery organisation with years of learning and experience from other major complex infrastructure programmes worldwide.What you’ll be doingThe Ecologist will support the Environmental Sustainability Manager and wider Environmental Team in the coordination and delivery of ecological mitigation, legislative compliance, and ecological protection during construction activities on the Sizewell C Project. This role will provide key on-site ecological presence in the form of an Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW), supporting the implementation of ecological controls and requirements through supervision, site monitoring, and advice.The Ecologist will be responsible for supporting the development and delivery of ecological method statements, species licensing compliance, and ongoing site surveys. The role will involve liaison with contractors, ecological consultants, and relevant stakeholders to ensure all ecological activities meet the competency and training requirements outlined by Sizewell C, and that mitigation is implemented to best practice standards.The Ecologist will also contribute to toolbox talks, site briefings, and regular ECoW training and support sessions. They will be responsible for maintaining high ecological standards across the site and for supporting the ongoing improvement of ecological performance and assurance.Who we’re looking forKnowledge, Skills & QualificationsEssential

  • Educated to degree or Masters level in Ecology or related subject
  • Proven experience in a Civils/Utilities/Major Construction industry in an ecological role specifically a NSIP.
  • Experience working as an ECoW which includes practical experience and knowledge of environmental legislation, ecology mitigation, environmental licences and consent applications and regulators.
  • Membership of one of the following professional institutions
  • Institute of Ecology and Environmental Managers (Full or associate).
  • Institute of Ecology and Environmental Managers – Accredited ECoW
  • Association of Environmental Clerk of Works (Full member).
  • Full UK driver’s licence and flexibility to travel.
  • MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point to a high standard.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to operate in a range of environments.
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to positively influence environment and sustainability within projects.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

Desirable

  • Internal environmental auditor qualification.
  • Master’s degree in relevant field.
  • Experience in Implementing ISO 14001.
