Description du poste : Fieldwork Robotics is currently hiring a Field Test Engineer to join their amazing teamFieldwork Robotics is a pioneering technology company that develops modular, multi-crop, soft, and adaptive robots designed to operate in non-controllable environments such as agricultural fields. Their innovative solutions focus on delivering advanced technologies to enhance efficiency and productivity in the agriculture sector. The company has recently incorporated a subsidiary in Portugal and is establishing a Lisbon team to complement the R&D HQ based in Cambridge.About the role: They seek a skilled and driven Field Test Engineer with strong technical capabilities, solid project management experience, and excellent customer-facing skills. Based in Portugal, you’ll be on the front lines of testing and validating our technology in real-world conditions, acting as a key link between their engineering teams and end-users. You’ll manage field trials from planning to execution and be instrumental in ensuring smooth communication and collaboration with customers.Responsibilities include the following:
- Plan, coordinate, execute, and report on field tests of hardware and software systems across various locations.
- Serve as the primary on-site contact during customer trials and ensure professional representation of the company.
- Collaborate closely with customers to understand field conditions and gather feedback for product improvement.
- Develop and manage test plans, schedules, and resources to meet project milestones.
- Troubleshoot technical issues in the field and relay findings to the engineering team.
- Document test procedures, results, and technical observations in clear, structured reports.
- Ensure all field activities comply with safety and operational guidelines.
- Lead follow-up actions, including debriefs with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in field testing or technical validation roles.
- Proven project management skills – able to manage multiple field trials, timelines, and stakeholder expectations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-oriented mindset.
- Experience working directly with clients or end-users in a technical support or product testing capacity.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, data logging systems, and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with Linux systems, basic scripting (Python, Bash), or embedded systems is a plus.
- Fluent in English and Portuguese.
- Valid EU driving license.
- Background in the agricultural tech or robotics industries.
- Experience with remote support tools and customer-facing troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of project tracking tools (Jira, Confluence).
- Working knowledge of GIT and version control.
