La Faculté des Arts de l’Université d’Helsinki recherche des candidatures pour le poste de Professeur, Professeur Associé ou Professeur Assistant en Études Linguistiques Finno-Ougriennes. Le candidat retenu pourra se voir offrir un poste de professeur permanent ou un poste associé ou assistant à durée déterminée dans le cadre d’un système de voies de carrière. L’entrée en fonction est prévue pour le 1er janvier 2026.
Détails de la mission
Le poste est axé sur l’étude des langues finno-ougriennes, avec un intérêt particulier pour des langues non souveraines, ce qui inclut des langues autres que le finnois, l’estonien ou le hongrois. Ce domaine englobe des études sur des langues qui ont un lien éloigné avec celles du groupe des langues finnoises. Le candidat doit justifier de qualifications académiques dans la recherche sur au moins deux branches de la famille des langues ouraliennes.
Domaines de recherche et d’enseignement
Le champ d’études et d’enseignement couvre la linguistique comparative (y compris la typologie linguistique), la linguistique historique, le contact linguistique, le multilinguisme (incluant les langues patrimoniales), les langues minoritaires et l’écologie linguistique. La recherche doit se fonder sur l’importance du vocabulaire et de la grammaire comme bases des études linguistiques empiriques, tout en interprétant les phénomènes liés à la famille linguistique au fil du temps.
Le candidat retenu sera également chargé d’enseigner à tous les niveaux, du baccalauréat aux études doctorales, et de superviser des chercheurs de doctorat et de postdoctorat. Les programmes concernés incluent le Bachelor en Langues et Littératures de Finlande, le Master en Études Finno-Ougriennes, le Master en Diversité Linguistique et Humanités Numériques ainsi que le Doctorat en Études Linguistiques.
En tant que membre de DIVSOL, une zone de recherche récemment financée, le candidat devra également favoriser une collaboration transdisciplinaire. La diversité ethnique, culturelle, linguistique et religieuse sera au cœur de ses responsabilités, tout comme le maintien de la cohésion sociale dans une société diverse.
Critères de candidature
Les candidats au poste d’assistant ou à celui de professeur associé doivent détenir un doctorat et prouver leur capacité à mener des recherches de manière autonome ainsi qu’à dispenser un enseignement de qualité. Les candidats au poste de professeur doivent montrer des qualifications académiques de haut niveau et avoir une expérience dans la supervision de la recherche. Une attention particulière sera accordée aux publications, à la capacité de financement externe des projets de recherche, et à l’engagement au sein de la communauté universitaire.
Les compétences linguistiques en finnois sont obligatoires, et une bonne maîtrise de l’anglais et du suédois est également requise pour assumer les responsabilités du poste.
Conditions salariales
Le salaire sera déterminé selon les niveaux 7 (assistant/professeur associé) ou 8 à 10 (professeur) du schéma de rémunération du personnel d’enseignement et de recherche des universités finlandaises, accompagné d’un complément de rémunération basé sur la performance individuelle. Les salaires annuels se situent approximativement entre 55 000 € et 99 000 €, en fonction de l’expérience et des qualifications.

📝 Description du poste : The Faculty of Arts invites applications for the position ofPROFESSOR, ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OR ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF FINNO-UGRIAN LANGUAGE STUDIESThe successful candidate may be appointed to a permanent professorship or a fixed-term associate or assistant professorship (tenure track system), depending on their qualifications and career stage. The appointment is planned to begin on 1 January 2026.Job descriptionThe position is in the field of Finno-Ugrian language studies, with a focus on broader issues involving the language family. These require familiarity with non-sovereign state, Finno-Ugrian languages, meaning languages other than Finnish, Estonian or Hungarian. The field covers research on languages that are only remotely related to those within the Finnic language area. The appointee must hold academic qualifications in research on at least two branches of the Uralic language family.The field of research and teaching encompasses comparative linguistics (incl. linguistic typology), historical linguistics, language contact, multilingualism (incl. heritage languages), minority languages and language ecology as well as the perspectives these provide on Finno-Ugrian languages and language communities, including their development and current state. Research and teaching are founded on the significance of vocabulary and grammar as the basis for empirical language studies and on interpreting phenomena involving the language family and communities over time. Effective performance in this position is facilitated by knowledge of international language studies and involvement in research networks. The successful candidate should be able to articulate a compelling vision of the field’s significance and future development for research at the University of Helsinki and in Finland. They are expected to show initiative in launching research projects and developing the research community.The primary fields of teaching and supervision linked to the position are language diversity (incl. language structure and sociolinguistic change) and the interpretation of language development over time. The appointee must possess strong skills in Finnish, essential for teaching, along with sufficient proficiency in other languages central to Finno-Ugrian language studies. Their responsibilities will include teaching across all levels from bachelor’s to doctoral studies and the supervision of doctoral and postdoctoral researchers.
