Contexte
Le Bureau de soutien aux partenariats de l’UNDP en Slovaquie recherche un étudiant particulièrement qualifié pour un stage dans le cadre du projet intitulé « Partenariat UNDP-Slovaquie : Solutions efficaces de coopération au développement pour les ODD » (appelé « projet de partenariat »). Ce projet est financé par le Ministère des Affaires étrangères et européennes de la République slovaque (MFEA SR) et représente la troisième phase de la coopération entre l’UNDP et le gouvernement slovaque (2018 – 2021). Ses principales objectifs consistent à :
1. Assurer que les pays partenaires bénéficient d’une assistance slovaque efficace et efficiente pour promouvoir un développement humain et économique durable.
2. Stimuler une plus grande implication du secteur privé slovaque dans la coopération au développement.
3. Soutenir la prise en compte des questions de genre dans la réforme du secteur de la sécurité (RSS) des pays partenaires.
Le projet se concentre sur des thématiques telles que la réforme du secteur de la sécurité, la gestion de l’eau et des déchets, l’efficacité énergétique, l’agriculture et le secteur des technologies de l’information (gouvernance électronique).
Objectif du stage
Sous la supervision du responsable du projet de partenariat, l’intern soutiendra le projet dans deux domaines clés :
- Cartographie des intérêts et des capacités : Identifier la capacité et l’expertise des ministères slovaques et des autorités publiques centrales engagées dans des initiatives et projets de coopération au développement.
- Communication : Augmenter la visibilité et la sensibilisation des objectifs et résultats du projet tant en interne (au sein de l’UNDP et du MFEA) qu’à une audience plus large.
L’intern enrichira ses connaissances théoriques tout en s’engageant dans des pratiques concrètes de coopération pour le développement, apprenant ainsi des politiques de l’UNDP et de ses partenaires.
Responsabilités
Les tâches spécifiques de l’intern incluront :
- Cartographie de la capacité slovaque : Recherche sur les sources d’expertise slovaque pour les projets de développement international.
- Support au MFEA : Aider à l’approche et à la cartographie des ministères concernés.
- Assistance au SlovakAid : Accueillir de nouveaux experts dans l’annuaire en ligne des experts en coopération au développement.
- Communication des résultats : Mettre à jour le site web de l’UNDP, préparer des notes informatives, et développer des matériels de communication.
Profil recherché
Les candidats au programme de stage UNDP doivent répondre à l’une des conditions suivantes :
- Être inscrit dans un programme de deuxième cycle universitaire.
- Être en dernière année d’un programme de premier cycle universitaire.
- Avoir obtenu un diplôme en développement international, études politiques, ou domaines connexes.
Compétences et exigences
Les compétences attendues incluent :
- Excellentes capacités d’écriture et de recherche.
- Capacités analytiques solides.
- Compétences en médias sociaux et maîtrise de MS Office.
- Sensibilité culturelle et éthique de travail.
Questions financières
Les stages au sein du système des Nations Unies sont non rémunérés. Cependant, un espace de travail et un ordinateur portable seront fournis.

Current Partnership project (2018 – 2021) presents already the third phase of the UNDP – Slovak government cooperation. Its main objective has been defined as “The partner countries benefit from effective and efficient provision of Slovak assistance in advancing their efforts towards sustainable human and economic development, building on Slovakia’s know -how and expertise, stimulating the inclusion of a wider range of partners, especially the private sector”. The Partnership project is focused on: 1. Promoting stronger engagement of the Slovak private sector in development cooperation; 2. Supporting gender mainstreaming in Security Sector Reform (SSR) in partner countries; and 3. Further building capacity of the MFEA SR, SlovakAid agency ([1] Slovak Agency for International Development Cooperation; ) , and possibly other actors involved in ODA, for providing high quality and effective ODA to its partners.Partnership project aims to partner mainly with the countries of Western Balkans and with Moldova, in the areas of security sector reform, water and waste management, energy efficiency, agriculture and the IT sector (e-governance).Knowledge management and communication shall present the relevant element of the Partnership project.ObjectiveUnder the supervision of the Partnership Project Manager, intern will get acquainted and will support the Partnership project in two key areas:
- Mapping of interest and existing capacity / expertise within the Slovak line ministries/central public authorities for engaging in Slovak development cooperation initiatives and projects
- Communicating the project aims and results to increase its visibility as well as awareness internally, within UNDP and MFEA and externally to a wider audience
At the same time, the intern will enhance the theoretical knowledge through substantive engagement with practices and policies of the UNDP and its partners, MFEA Department for Development Assistance and Humanitarian Aid, and the SlovakAid agency, while assisting with the ongoing and planned initiatives and activities. During the assignment the UNDP will provide a framework enabling student to enhance their educational experience through practical work assignments; will expose them to an international environment; expose them to work of the respective Organization with the objective of deepening their knowledge and understanding of development cooperation, Slovak ODA as well of UNDP goals, principles and activities.Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the overall supervision of the Partnership Project Manager, selected intern is expected to perform the following tasks:Mapping of Slovak capacity and expertise
- Research on the sources of Slovak expertise relevant for the international development projects;
- Support MFEA staff in active approaching and mapping the Slovak line ministries/central public authorities currently or potentially engaged in development cooperation projects
- Support SlovakAid Agency in inviting new experts and assisting with the registration process to the Slovak Expertise Locator , the online database of the Slovak development cooperation experts
- Support development of coordinated outreach efforts to increase the awareness of various target audiences on the Slovak Expertise Locator (
) * Support the on-going outreach about the Slovak Expertise Locator through drafting messages and creating visualsCommunicating the Partnership project aims and results
- Support the update and the maintenance of the UNDP ‘Partnership with the Slovak Republic’ webpage: research for relevant information, preparing and editing the contents, translation of the news, creating visuals, editing of the contents, etc.;
- Prepare the informational briefs and notes, mainly in the Partnership project aims and results, to be displayed on other relevant websites (MFEA, SlovakAid, etc.), and potentially on the media and social media platforms
- Conduct / provide support for on-demand thematic or donor-specific research, including international best practices, lessons learnt and experiences
- Provide support to development of outreach materials on key thematic development areas covered by the Partnership project (articles, stories, factsheets);
Other tasks
- Provide logistical support to events, including liaison with partners;
- Support the team’s day-to-day operations and other ad hoc tasks.
Timeframe:The intern is expected to work with the Slovakia – UNDP Partnership Team for a period of 3 months between May and July 2019. The duration of the assignment can be extended to a maximum total duration of 6 moths, as per the availability and interest of both parties.CompetenciesCore Competencies:

Required Skills and ExperienceInterns are selected on a competitive basis in accordance with the minimum qualifications required:Education:Applicants to the UNDP internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent);
- Have graduated with a university degree in the field of international development, political studies, economic and trade development, local/regional development, communications or related fields;
Experience:
- Work and volunteer experience in the field of international development, economic and trade development, local/regional development, communications or related fields is an asset.
- Previous related experience in a research and use of communication methods would be an asset but is not required.
- Strong interest in international development and in new/emerging donors in Europe and the CIS
- Knowledge of using design software tools;
Languages:
- Excellent writing and editing skills in English and Slovak;
Financial IssuesInternships within the UN system are unpaid and subject to conditions the applicant must get familiar with prior to signing his/her internship agreement. Selected intern will be provided by the office space (at the UNDP project office) and with the laptop, for the entire internship duration.Application procedureThe application should contain:

Interns are not staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity.

Should an offer of employment be envisaged, a 3-month break from the end of the internship must be respected.
