Poste : Software Engineering Manager

Mission du Poste :
Au sein du département Global Sportsbook and Trading (GST), le Software Engineering Manager est chargé de conduire la mission de Flutter visant à créer des produits de paris sportifs captivants. En collaborant étroitement avec le Product Owner, ce rôle exige de mener une équipe pluridisciplinaire tout au long du cycle de livraison de produit.

Tâches et Responsabilités :

Leadership & People :

Nourrir une culture axée sur la qualité et les résultats en favorisant l’accountability.
Faciliter la communication au sein de l’équipe pour clarifier les priorités et les attentes, en tenant des séances de planification régulières et des rétrospectives.
Accompagner les membres de l’équipe par le biais d’entretiens individuels, d’objectifs de performance, et d’un développement de carrière adapté.
Identifier et mener des initiatives visant à améliorer l’expérience des ingénieurs au sein de GST.
Collaborer avec les équipes de Talent pour recruter les meilleurs profils.
Préparer l’équipe aux événements critiques, en s’assurant de la scalabilité du système.

Software Delivery :

Travailler en étroite collaboration avec les parties prenantes pour déterminer les meilleures stratégies de livraison.
Proposer des implementations stratégiques et pragmatiques tout en équilibrant les besoins commerciaux et les designs techniques idéaux.
Assurer une communication régulière avec les parties prenantes sur l’état des livraisons, en soulignant les risques et impacts potentiels.
Veiller à ce que la qualité soit intégrée à chaque étape du processus d’ingénierie.
Mesurer et revoir régulièrement la vélocité et la qualité des livraisons.

Ownership :

Assumer la responsabilité des solutions et éliminer les obstacles pour l’équipe.
Développer et mise en œuvre de la surveillance en temps réel pour une vérification efficace de la santé des services.
Collaborer avec d’autres équipes afin d’assurer une cohérence des feuilles de route et comprendre les dépendances.

Compétences et Qualifications :

Formation technique avec un historique éprouvé de gestion d’équipes pluridisciplinaires dans des projets logiciels complexes.
Capacité à influencer et à promouvoir des changements efficaces au sein de la chaîne de valeur.

📝 Description du poste : Software Engineering Manager, Hybrid-DublinSoftware Engineering ManagerRole purpose:Global Sportsbook and Trading (GST) is on a mission: « To help Flutter create the world’s most compelling sports betting products. » As an Engineering Manager in Global Sports, you will play a pivotal role in this mission by leading a team dedicated to providing traders with the tools they need to create and manage sports products on which our customers across our global brands will bet.As the Engineering Manager, you will work in partnership with the Product Owner to lead a multi-disciplinary squad of highly skilled individuals through the Product Delivery Lifecycle. This role involves accountability for the entire software delivery process, from planning, designing, coding, testing, and deployment to monitoring performance for stability and future-proofing.In this role, you will be responsible for hiring, performance appraisal, and rewarding your team, focusing on helping them define their career paths and achieve their short and long-term goals. Using lean and agile methodologies, you will oversee the pace, scale, and performance of your team’s delivery in a multi-team, multi-location environment.What you’ll do:Leadership & People:

Nurture a culture of high-quality, results-oriented delivery with accountability.
Ensure all team members have a clear understanding of priorities and expectations by facilitating regular communication and alignment, and by holding planning sessions at the right time and regular retrospectives to maintain focus and efficiency.
Coach team members through regular 1:1s, set and review objectives, appraise performance, and assist with career development, ensuring effective performance management.
Proactively identify and lead on initiatives to improve the experience of being an engineer in GST; whether that is to do with productivity, diversity and inclusion, technical competence or other areas.
To allow the tribe to grow, work with Talent Teams and other leaders to recruit the best people for your squad.
Prepare the team for « events that matter ». Ensure the engineering team can scale the system effectively to handle increased loads during critical periods without compromising quality or performance.

Software Delivery

Bring value to stakeholders by working closely with Product and Delivery to determine the best strategy to deliver the roadmap while servicing tech debt.
Balance the commercial needs of the business against the ideal technical design, proposing strategic and pragmatic implementations with clear delivery plans, including accurate and realistic estimation of time, to ensure successful execution.
Regularly communicate the status of delivery to stakeholders, clearly highlighting any risks and potential impacts, and proactively develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful outcomes.
Ensure quality is a first-class citizen in the engineering process and work closely with the QA capability within the squad and wider team to meet the quality demands of the business.
Measure and review delivery velocity, quality, lead and cycle-times regularly, and promptly address any issues that arise.
Support changes in the business, including adjustments to roadmap priorities and squad configurations, ensuring seamless transitions and continued alignment with overall business objectives.
Write, oversee and coordinate with team members and subject experts to ensure the maintenance of accurate and effective documentation.

Ownership:

Take responsibility for the solution and remove obstacles for the team.
Work with your squad to develop and implement real-time monitoring, good alert design and first-rate logging strategies to easily check health and availability of services.
Ensure 24/7 operational support of our products.
Work closely with the other GST squads to ensure alignment of roadmaps through understanding of dependencies.
