Terral RiverService, Inc. recherche un Deckhand qualifié et motivé pour renforcer son équipe maritime. Ce poste est essentiel au bon fonctionnement et à la sécurité de nos embarcations. Les responsabilités incluent, sans s’y limiter, la maintenance des navires, l’assistance à la navigation et la garantie de la sécurité des opérations.
Fonctions essentielles du poste
Les candidats doivent être disponibles pour travailler selon un calendrier de 28 jours de travail suivi de 14 jours de repos, ou 14 jours de travail et 7 jours de repos. Les tâches comprennent :
- Sécouer les barges (installation de la grue)
- Fixer le bateau aux barges
- Gestion des cordages
- Nettoyage général du bateau
- Travaux mineurs en salle des machines (changement d’huile, graissage, etc.)
- Peinture
- Cuisine
- Tenue des registres de maintenance, commandes de courses, exercices de sécurité, etc.
Exigences de base
Les candidats doivent répondre aux critères suivants :
- Être prêt à être formé et à recevoir des conseils.
- Avoir au moins 18 ans.
- Être diplômé d’études secondaires ou équivalent.
- Réussir une formation de trois jours pour Deckhand.
- Avoir ou pouvoir obtenir un TWIC (Transport Worker Identification Credential).
- Détenir un permis de conduire valide.
- Être capable de travailler à des heures variables, y compris les week-ends et jours fériés.
Conditions physiques requises
Les candidats doivent satisfaire aux exigences suivantes :
- Passer un examen médical (physique, test de dépistage de drogue, imagerie par résonance magnétique) à l’embauche.
- Être capable d’effectuer des actions physiques telles que marcher, s’accroupir, grimper, etc.
- Travailler dans des conditions difficiles sous toutes les conditions climatiques (pluie, neige, chaleur, etc.).
- Être à l’aise à bord de bateaux et de barges.
- Capacité à soulever jusqu’à 75 livres et à travailler à des hauteurs protégées jusqu’à 40 pieds.
- Avoir une vision adéquate (voir de près, de loin, perception de la profondeur, etc.).

📝 Description du poste : Title: DeckhandLocation: Houston, TX (Channelview)Classification: Full TimePosition Summary:Terral RiverService, Inc. is seeking a skilled and motivated Deckhand to join our maritime team. The Deckhand will play a crucial role in supporting the efficient and safe operation of our vessels. This position involves a range of responsibilities, including maintenance of the vessel, assisting with navigation, and ensuring the overall safety and well-being of the vessel.Essential Job Functions:Applicants must be able to work a 28-day-on, 14-day-off or a 14-day-on, 7-day-off schedule. Job duties are as follows, but not limited to:
- Securing barges together (laying rigging)
- Securing boat to barges (facing boat up)
- Line handling
- General boat cleaning
- Minor engine room work (oil changes, greasing, etc.)
- Painting
- Cooking
- Keeping maintenance logs, grocery orders, safety drills, etc
Basic requirements:
- Having a willingness to be trained and coachable.
- At least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
- Must pass 3-day deckhand orientation class
- Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a TWIC
- Must have and maintain a valid/current Driver’s license.
- Must be able to work various hours/holidays/weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Must meet « fit for duty » requirements upon job offer (pre-employment physical, drug test, and MRI)
- The employee must meet physical requirements including but not limited to, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing up/down ladders and stairs, negotiating uneven and moving surfaces.
- Must be able to work in difficult conditions with exposure to all weather conditions (rain, ice, snow, wind, heat, etc.)
- Must be comfortable working aboard boats and barges.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work at protected heights up to 40 feet.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
