L’Université du Luxembourg recrute un(e) doctorant(e) en Informatique, spécialisé(e) dans les portefeuilles d’identité numérique et les paiements. Le candidat retenu rejoindra le FINATRAX Research Group, axé sur l’impact des technologies numériques sur les organisations. Les recherches portent sur des thèmes variés, notamment la Blockchain, les identités numériques, et l’intelligence artificielle. Ce groupe offre un environnement de travail dynamique, enrichi par des chercheurs de diverses spécialités et langues.
Objectifs de recherche
Le projet doctoral se concentrera sur l’interaction entre le portefeuille numérique européen (EUDIW) et les services financiers numériques, en tenant compte des réglementations de l’UE relatives à la lutte contre le blanchiment d’argent et le financement du terrorisme (AML/CFT), ainsi que sur l’impact économique et l’utilisabilité de ces technologies.
Tâches du candidat
- Effectuer des recherches interdisciplinaires sur les portefeuilles numériques et les paiements numériques.
- Analyser les processus de certification et de sécurité associés aux portefeuilles numériques.
- Utiliser des technologies de protection de la vie privée pour réduire les risques de crimes financiers.
- Évaluer l’impact économique d’une application intégrant identification et paiements.
- Conseiller le Ministère luxembourgeois de la Digitalisation sur les activités connexes.
Profil recherché
Les candidats doivent posséder les qualifications suivantes :
- Un master en systèmes d’information, informatique, ou domaines connexes.
- Un intérêt marqué pour la recherche qualitative et quantitative, ainsi que pour les applications financières des technologies de décentralisation.
- La capacité à travailler en équipe et à s’engager dans des groupes de travail nationaux et internationaux.
- Une maîtrise de l’anglais, avec des connaissances en français, allemand ou luxembourgeois étant souhaitées.

The project examines the interplay between the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDIW) under eIDAS2 and digital financial services, considering EU regulations on AML/CFT, open finance, and the digital euro. It will analyze how digital finance evolves alongside EUDIW features, assessing its impact on functionalities and user control over financial and payment data.The candidate will perform the following tasks:
- Carry out interdisciplinary research in digital identity (wallets) and digital finance and payments:
- electronic attestations of attributes
- certification processes and security measures in digital wallets
- using privacy-enhancing technologies to ensure end-user privacy while mitigating risks of financial crime
- open banking and open finance
- digital euro and central bank digital currencies, online and offline payments
- economic impact and/or usability-related aspects of combining identification and payments in a single app
- Advise Luxembourg’s Ministry for Digitalisation on related activities
- Publish in top outlets on information systems, tech policy, and computer science
- Support research proposals to secure industry partnerships and grants
- Conduct research and deliver outcomes with academic and public partne

- Master’s degree in information systems, business informatics, computer science, computer engineering, technology management, or related fields
- Interest in applying qualitative and/or quantitative research methods from information systems, such as qualitative interviews or simulation-based modeling to investigate questions at the individual and organizational levels
