Le Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise est à la recherche d’un Clinical Nurse Specialist en neurologie pour un poste permanent à temps plein. Ce recrutement pourrait également engendrer la création d’un panel permettant de pourvoir d’autres postes, ouverts tant aux emplois permanents qu’à ceux à durée déterminée.

Objectif du Poste

Ce poste s’inscrit dans le développement d’un service de neurologie qui relie le Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise au Tallaght University Hospital. Les initiatives visent à :

  • Améliorer l’accès aux services neurologiques appropriés.
  • Renforcer la sécurité et la qualité des soins centrés sur le patient.
  • Optimiser la valeur pour les patients et les services de santé dans le domaine de la neurologie.

Le Clinical Nurse Specialist en neurologie sera chargé de délivrer des soins conformes aux cinq concepts clés du rôle, tels que définis dans le « Framework for the Establishment of Clinical Nurse Specialist Posts », 4ème édition, National Council for the Professional Development of Nursing and Midwifery (NCNM) 2008. La prise en charge sera orientée vers des adultes de plus de 16 ans présentant des conditions neurologiques.

Responsabilités Principales

Le Clinical Nurse Specialist en neurologie aura un rôle central en tant que leader et coordinateur des exigences cliniques, managériales et éducatives des services de neurologie. Cela comprendra notamment :

  • Agir en tant que ressource experte pour l’équipe.
  • Travailler de manière intégrée avec l’équipe multidisciplinaire pour fournir des soins fondés sur des preuves.
  • Collaborer avec le neurologue consultant pour faciliter les innovations, y compris le développement d’une clinique dirigée par des infirmières.
  • Jouer un rôle actif dans l’amélioration de la qualité et des services.
  • S’assurer de la surveillance et de l’audit des standards cliniques.
  • Développer des mécanismes de communication entre les deux hôpitaux.
  • Encourager le respect des politiques et procédures hospitalières.
  • Assister en cas d’incidents majeurs ou d’urgences internes.

Critères d’Éligibilité

Les candidats doivent répondre aux critères suivants :

  • Inscription Statutaire : Être un infirmier enregistré au registre actif ou être éligible à cette inscription.
  • Avoir un minimum d’un an d’expérience après enregistrement et dans le domaine de la neurologie.
  • Avoir complété un programme de formation post-enregistrement, certifié selon le cadre des qualifications pertinent.
  • Développer en continu des compétences professionnelles pertinentes.
  • Être en mesure de pratiquer de manière sécurisée et efficace dans son domaine.

Le candidat doit également avoir une bonne condition physique et un caractère exemplaire. Toute nomination dépendra du maintien de l’inscription dans le registre des infirmiers et sages-femmes.

Conditions de Travail

Le salaire pour ce poste sera discuté lors de l’entretien. La localisation est Portlaoise, County Laois, avec un début prévu pour le 1er juillet 2025.

The purpose of this Clinical Nurse Specialist – Neurology post is to:Deliver care in line with the five core concepts of the role set out in the Framework for the Establishment of Clinical Nurse Specialist Posts, 4th edition, National Council for the Professional Development of Nursing and Midwifery (NCNM) 2008.Caseload – Adults aged over 16 years with Neurological Conditions.Clinical Nurse Specialist – Neurology will focus initially on the following:

  • Have responsibility for leading and co-ordinating the clinical, managerial and educational requirements of the Neurology Services. This includes acting as an expert resource for the team to support them in the delivery of effective care.
  • Work as an integral member of the nursing and multidisciplinary team involved in the provision of evidence-based care to the patients who attend the Neurology Service.
  • Work with the Consultant Neurologist to facilitate innovations in service delivery, including, but not limited to, the development of a nurse-led clinic.
  • Play a proactive role in quality and service improvement and working closely with the Assistant Director of Nursing.
  • They will also be responsible for the monitoring and auditing of clinical standards of care.
  • Liaise appropriately with the Multidisciplinary Team members to ensure safe timely and effective care.
  • Develop communication mechanisms between Tallaght University Hospital and the Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise to ensure safe systems between both sites.
  • Support and encourage staff in implementation of hospital procedures and policies.
  • Assist in the event of a major incidents or internal emergencies within the hospital.

Eligibility Criteria, Qualifications and / or Experience1. Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc(a) Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition: –(i) Be a registered nurse on the active Register of Nurses & Midwives held by An Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland) or be eligible to be so registered.AND(ii) Be registered in the General Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann) Register for which the application is being made or be entitled to be so registered.OR(iii) In exceptional circumstances, which will be assessed on a case by case basis be registered in another Division of the register of Nurses and Midwives.AND(iv) Have a minimum of 1 years’ post registration full-time experience or an aggregate of 1 years’ full-time experience in the division of the register in which the application is being made (taking into account (ii) (iii) if relevant).AND(v) Have a minimum of 1 years’ experience or an aggregate of 1 years’ full-time experience in specialist area of Neurology Nursing Care.AND(vi) Have successfully completed a post registration programme of study, as certified by the education provider which verifies that the applicant has achieved a Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) major academic Level 9 or higher award that is relevant to the specialist area of care (equivalent to 60 ECTS or above), and in line with the requirements for specialist practice as set out by the National Council for Nursing and Midwifery 4th ed (2008).Alternatively provide written evidence from the Higher Education Institute that they have achieved the number of ECTS credits equivalent to a Level 9 or higher standard, relevant to the specialist area of care (equivalent to 60 ECTS or above), and in line with the requirements for specialist practice as set out by the National Council for Nursing and Midwifery 4th ed (2008). For Neurology Nursing of Care prior to application* (See Note 1 below).AND(vii) Be required to demonstrate that they have continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the specialist area.AND(viii) Have the ability to practice safely and effectively fulfilling his / her professional responsibility within his / her scope of practice.*Note 1:For Nurses / Midwives who express an interest in CNS / CMS roles and who currently hold a level 8 educational qualification in the specialist area (equivalent to 60 ECTS or above), this qualification will be recognised up to September 2026.AND(b) Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability and clinical, leadership, managerial and administrative capacity for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.2.
