Le Contexte : Équipe Backend Consommateur

La Consumer Backend Team joue un rôle clé en collaborant avec diverses équipes de développement d’applications. Cette équipe est responsable de la gestion des services backend qui alimentent des fonctionnalités essentielles de l’application Oura, notamment le suivi des Alimentations et de la Glycémie. Récemment, ils ont fortement interagi avec la Metabolic Health Squad, élargissant l’approche de l’entreprise au-delà du sommeil pour inclure des aspects tels que la santé métabolique, qui sont cruciaux pour le bien-être global des utilisateurs.

Description du Poste

Nous recherchons un Senior Backend Engineer pour rejoindre notre équipe. Le candidat jouera un rôle déterminant dans la conception, le développement et la maintenance des services backend qui font fonctionner les fonctionnalités axées sur le consommateur de l’application Oura. À travers une collaboration étroite avec des équipes multidisciplinaires, ce rôle implique la création d’architectures évolutives et résilientes, en intégrant les besoins des équipes de données et de produit pour offrir une expérience utilisateur personnalisée et intelligente.

Technologies Utilisées

Le candidat travaillera avec un ensemble technologique diversifié comprenant :

• Python
• AWS (incluant EKS, DynamoDB, S3, SQS, ECS, Batch, Sagemaker…)
• API REST, Protocol Buffers, GraphQL
• Outils de monitoring : Grafana, Datadog, Sentry
• LLM comme OpenAI
• Docker, Kubernetes

Responsabilités

Le candidat sera amené à :

• Concevoir et maintenir des services backend pour les fonctionnalités à destination des consommateurs.
• Collaborer avec des équipes cross-fonctionnelles, incluant iOS, Android, et Data Science.
• Contribuer aux revues de code et aux discussions techniques.
• Assurer la scalabilité, la fiabilité et la sécurité des systèmes backend.
• Encadrer des ingénieurs plus juniors et améliorer les processus d’ingénierie.

Profil Recherché

• Plus de 5 ans d’expérience en développement backend.
• Un état d’esprit proactif et une forte capacité à réaliser des projets.
• Excellentes compétences en résolution de problèmes et en communication.
• Maîtrise d’un ou plusieurs langages de programmation backend.
• Expérience avec les produits LLM et les infrastructures AWS.
• Connaissance des bases de données et des outils de monitoring.

We’ve recently worked most closely with the Metabolic Health Squad.About the Metabolic Health SquadWhile we started with sleep, over the years, we’ve expanded to include additional health pillars to provide a more complete, holistic picture of your health. Like sleep, activity, cardiovascular health, and stress & resilience, metabolic health is an integral component of health and well-being. Currently this means helping our members track and improve their metabolic health via facilitating glucose tracking through integrations with external Stelio biosensors, capturing nutrition intake data, and delivering actionable insights derived from that information that helps educate and inspire members to healthier metabolic decisions while maintaining a psychologically healthy relationship with food.Working closely with the Metabolic Health Squad, you’ll help empower Oura members to build metabolically healthy habits that support daily vitality and long-term healthspan.About the RoleWe are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Backend Team. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain backend services that power Oura’s consumer-facing features. You will collaborate with various Oura feature development squads supporting them with their backend needs and ensuring our backend infrastructure is scalable, reliable, and efficient.In this role, you’ll take ownership of backend initiatives from concept to deployment, even when requirements are evolving or ambiguous. You’ll play a key role in shaping scalable, resilient architecture and collaborate closely with multiple feature squads, data scientists, and product managers to deliver intelligent, impactful features.You will also play a key role in integrating, improving, and scaling AI-driven features, working closely with product and data teams to bring intelligent, personalized experiences to our users.Our tech stack includes:

This is an on-site (Helsinki, Oulu) or remote Finland-based senior role.Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services for Oura’s consumer-facing features.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including iOS, Android, and Data Science, to deliver high-quality products.
• Perform and contribute to code reviews, technical design discussions, and architectural planning.
• Ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of our backend systems.
• Mentor junior engineers, contribute to a culture of technical excellence, and improve engineering processes and best practices.

We would love to have you on our team if you have:

• 5+ years of experience in backend development.
• A proactive, get-stuff-done attitude.
• Taking strong ownership of your work.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Proficiency in one or more backend programming languages (e.g., Python, TypeScript, Go, Java).
• Experience building products on top of LLMs.
• Experience with building on top of AWS and Kubernetes.
• Experience with databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, DynamoDB).
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles and best practices.
• Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g. Grafana, Prometheus).
• Thriving in a dynamic startup-like environment. We’re building something completely new within the Oura app, and many of us come from startup backgrounds. We move and experiment fast, with continuous product discovery ongoing. We believe in creating value through iterative and incremental development as opposed to big bang releases.
• Experience with collaborative development on complex shared codebases.
